likklegriz Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Late last year in a coutry park near me i noticed a hell of a lot of pigeons on the roof of the cafe when they came down to feed there was at least a dozen with race rubbers on and rings i managed to get hold of 2 of them 1 with no wing stamp and the other with i think a barnsley number on. I let them go because it was the middle of the day anda lot of onlookers would it be legal to go down with a crate and collect em or should yopu just let em be ANY ONE ANY IDEAS

THE FIFER Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 so long as u were doing the right thing and trying to find their owners cant see anythinng wrong or ilegal in that,
Guest Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Don't see any problem with the law in trapping the birds. The potential problem that could get you into a lot of bovver from a number of quarters is what you intended doing with these birds after you trapped them.
likklegriz Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 where they come down to feed is right near the rangers station i suppose i could just ask them i did get some funny looks and the missus walked the other way with embarresment

RETURN OR RING OWNER IF STAMPED AT THE VERY LEAST GET SOME RING NUMBERS
Guest The main Mahon Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 I dont think there would be a problem if yo are intending to trace the owners of the birds and report them. The chances are that the facier that owns the bird will let you keep it. If however your intention is to catch the birds and just keep them, then this would be theft as your intention is to keep the bird without informing the owner. Hope this helps.
likklegriz Posted February 2, 2007 Author Report Posted February 2, 2007 i've no room for any more with the youngsters i'm intending and if you could see where they had been drinking and some of the streeters around them i wouldn't want em with mine. If i had a spare shed though some looked fresh and of quality it was around aug/sept last time a was there
Wiley Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 well have to say i had a bird come back yesterday lost it on its second yb race the season just passed, clean moult silky feathers not a fret mark in the moult at all,Pigeon was immaculat,it is a well bred pigeon and does look a cracker, but obviously had been in somebody elses loft!
pigeonscout Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Wiley they more than likely took eggs from it.
kev01293 Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 if i see a lost pigeon and i have the chance to catch it then i always do and report it , i hope others would do the same for me? but i know what u mean about getting funny looks from people in the street, one elderly lady threatened to call the police till i explained what i was doing kev
