Guest Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 does this mean that we will be able to hold shows again, if not ?...isnt this a case of double standards by defra, letting a place where only recently has been the centre of a massive bird flu scare, trade again so early . one person asked on radio earlier that if there is an exclusion zone around the factory how can there be trading and movement of meat. surely now they must raise the ban of our shows and races....or is it that bernaud matthews has bigger pockets then we have?..wots ur feelings on this ?...paul :-/

Roland Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Lol like that... if you can't beat tem join them lol. Well don't believe about the Faces and money first, as I believe there is next to zilch risk of deaths anyway! .... Since 1992 how many deaths eh! None in the normal world, and marginal in Asia etc. Yes hardly any and certainly NONE unless you sleep with the affected birds or real close ... Like eating them! Now the ordinary every day flu Killed 5000 last winter alone, so in reality Avian is just a band wagon. Best thing about it they can shout and hold office and make ludicuss claims whilst knowing that hardly anyone or any body will be affected in this and other European Countries.

Think you miss ze point Roland maybe caught up in all the hype / confusion! Deadly for poultry only. Not just for the poor beggars that catch it, but all the other close contacts. Holton example: 2500 actual turkey deaths from the disease, but 159,000 culled because of these deaths.

Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 No not Bruno ... Human life loss is next to zilch. Creature loss is in actually reality no more than a hinderance, insurance covers etc. Take F & M farmers couldn't wait to get it... was buying and introducing them as quick as possble. Made many Solvent and was a blessing in disguise. Put a lot back on their feet infact.

Roland, you are talking out of your backside when you say farmers couldn't wait to get F & M.Statements like this show what a completely ignorant townie you are.If it wasn't for your like wanting cheap food produced to inferior standards dieases would not be imported into this country in the first place.

Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Ah well after the cherbo mucker in Wales we could buy sheep for less than a £6 ... couldn't give them away ... And just shows your ignorance 'beautyhomer' I live in COUNTRY and I also delivered, just shows how little you really know, let alone able to grasp!
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Just because you live in the countryside means nothing and I could not care less about Welsh sheep as I only buy English to support English farmers. If the Welsh have no market for there produce they know what they can do. I was born and raised on a farm, went to HAUC and now milk 120 cows for a living so I am hardly the ignorant one concerning F & M.
Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 So... live with it! Many did, and as to what you did, or didn't do, me, nor any one else really gives a ficled rat's bum lol. But I do believe that you are ignorant to what many others DID do! End of subject lol
Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 And I do buy Organc, I also purchase from the Butchers as to the Supermarkets. The reason being, among other things, is that fresh meat their is in reality a lot cheaper than Frozen with 50% - 70% water legally forced in. And collectively all make a rod for your own backs, because if you DON'T supply, then someone else will. And once there they squeeze a little more for a little less.... Was on the Milk Farm last year where I saw first hand the crap fed. I believe that a cow to most is a machine where they pump in one end and milk the other, and clean up. Any way homer not falling out with you, you struggle along and make ends meet and fair play and all the best to you. I don't really wish to get into the Politics oand the wheres and why fors.

Guest beautyhomer Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 If you do not wish to get into the politics why bring up F & M in the first place unless you were not expecting anyone to challenge you.Maybe some people welcomed F & M but not the vast majority of farmers as you imply. Precisely what crap were they feeding on the farm that you visited,I am sure the farm assurance people would be interested to know. I do not stuggle along to make ends meet as they are not my cows that I milk,I want my 20 grand a year and regular time off thankyou very much ;D
Guest beautyhomer Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 does ur line about only buying english to support english farmers follow through to wot ever you buy homer,as in PIGEONS or other products you buy from shops?....paul Do not keep pigeons so why would I be buying any pigeon products?????????? As I work on a farm, then I will buy English farm products where ever possible as I see little point buying imported goods that can be grown/produced here just because they are cheaper.
Guest Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Can't agree with the bit about farmers wanting disease, Roland. One or two oddballs, maybe, but for most working people anything thats going to affect their livelihood is bad news. Thankfully the wholesale slaughter policy then has been shown to be wrong and drastically overhauled. Up here at least it saved some rare breeds from going up in smoke because of the Newcastle Disease outbreak last year amongst farmed pheasant (in East Lothian). Wasn't so then.
Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Just because you live in the countryside means nothing and I could not care less about Welsh sheep as I only buy English to support English farmers. If the Welsh have no market for there produce they know what they can do. I was born and raised on a farm, went to HAUC and now milk 120 cows for a living so I am hardly the ignorant one concerning F & M. You mean get insurance / government hand outs! Never seen the time, or the farmer that wasn't whinging about how hard done by they were. What with the entire tax payer money ploughed in year out, should do what Thatcher told everyone else, -If can't make it pay do something else ... but increased their’ substances’. Either it’s ‘To wet, too dry, wrong kind of rain as they drive around in turbo charges Monstrosities. Don’t pay rate, etc. Hose ban means a quick exemption of a few quiddies (still less than a tenner) for a Licence to use as much as they like Then have Gaul to sell all their’ so called waste / ploughed in produce TAX free on the road side. Yes after it shows a mitre, plough it in and grow something else, etc. And the consumer doesn’t flay the farmer for Cheaper produce or milk etc. that is down to the power of the Supermarkets ad them wanting their shareholders huge interests, and 2-3 billion pounds profits. Tell your boss to tell them to pay him more or pass more savings onto the consumer. I have yet to see, for I have never seen a placard, or a lobbyist purging the supermarkets to pay the Farmers or anyone else they trade with LESS! So just where do you get that from …. Mad cows disease!
Roland Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Ps I didn't know that F & M was politics! But THEN some can turn any and everything into politics if they so wish, as your bruise ego and silent cxrusade proves Homer.
