ACE LOFTS Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 u think a 7 year old is bad iv got a yearling whos not filling
Guest Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 7 yo seems a bit young to be past it. Also, picked up something recently that you shouldn't trim vent feathers as there is some sort of 'guide feathers' there which obviously help! If you have a spare end or corner, leave out the 'helping hands' and just put him and his mate in there, and keep yer fingers crossed. Nothing to lose.
Roland Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Let it stay on it's own with plenty of freedom ... 3/4 weeks down the line he fills or don't, then it's a costly Vet job of syringe etc. But feel other than that of changing it's mate to a prove hen... JNO
pigeonscout Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 How do you know it is the cock and not the hen
pigeonscout Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Gently break open the egg if there is a perfect yolk then the hen is ok and the cock is not filling, if the yolk is broken and mixed with the white then it is then hen at fault.
Guest jason Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 A couple of years ago I bought a 9 year old hen, wouldn't even lay an egg when I got her, I put her and her mate in a pen on their own and since has bred 3 winners out of 8 young birds. try putting him with his mate in a seperate section Jason
