Roland Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Goshawk I have a very good, and A full life. I know a couple in our club that also had both... they have both moved over to the BOP. So you may or may not be as you say. My verdict is out! Personally I have a open mind.... 60% to 40% tells me, that you have more interest in BOP than rollers. Also I suggest you don't be insulting me as to get a life. I spout what I believe. Right or wrong. You could / should have just spouted the same.

goshawk Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 Correct Goshawk, and I understad where you are coming from.... being upfront - BUT I kaind of think that may well be the case 'I was upfront so...' Any way Mick, BOP are trained on pigeons.... :-/ But why bother to answer that eh :o Everyone just about knows that! Well nigh everyone. in america and other places homers where used to teach the falcon to stay above the falconer. if the bird wondered off they would let racer go and the falcon wouldnt be able to catch it as the falcon would have been out of persitions so it teaches the bird to stay above the falconer. im a hawk flyer or austringer, i fly totaly a bird of my fist at what gets up infront of me. normaly a pheasant. i dont go for pigeons with my hawk as he wouldnt stand a chance. i do feed pigeon but only woodpigeon that i shoot as its very good food for the hawk when im not flying him in the moult to help him have strong feathers. hope this answers any douts.
cheeseman Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 hi goshawk, i live within a 1 mile radius of three falconers, 1 of them was fined a couple of years ago for flying a bird of prey to a tethered pigeon, his penalty 5 pound fine,if it wasme being a gamie also it would be afine up to 1000 pound another has nehu birds brought to him to fly his falcons to, the third has a genuine intrest in pigeons and would not fly his birds to them,im not sure which catergory you come in but can you understand how we feel when this happens, i apologize for getting off thread.
mick Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 cheese man the bloke who is letting pigeons go for his hawk to chase is breaking the law and should be reported as the use of baggies is not legal in the uk this also answers your commen to roland
cheeseman Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 i know mick but try telling the local wildlife officer or the rspb they are to busy trying catch the likes of me out, which they will never do.as i wont break the law
mick Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 i would go to police mate even though i do both sports its not right
