Guest Hjaltland Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I'm not sure I understood your post correctly, Pigeonscout, but must admit a question on training yearling latebreds with young birds did spring to mind? Training yearling latebreds with young birds, do they come home together or is it a case of yearling latebreds come home first and young birds later having gone for a tour? In my experience there are lots of times the yb's are home before the latebreds. Its a good way of training the Lbs
Guest CS Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 disagree with this comment if treated right they turn out to be good pigeons Yes if they treated right, will turn out to be good pigeons, but it is the amount of work, to train them in the winter...will affect them or not in the winter?.
Roland Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Many people don't even train y/b's, ( I didn't again this last season as I knew I wouldn't be racing them) and then very light training and perhaps a odd race as yearlings PERHAPS, they come well. Some even go into National races havng their first race ... One even one a National on it's and the owners first race ... just the one case as I know off. So all they molley cuddling and train is for your own benefit, and peace of mind. Golly Birds that are sold and took 100's of miles away that get out - never been trained, or even loft flown find their way back... I usually if going to race y/b's just go the week, then 35 upwards in any direction, they come well.
jimmy white Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 some of my latebreds had really bad feathering and were small for their age, also some seemed unpredictable/nervous and most were lost off of the loft as squeekers which is not something that usually happens to me,as a novice i cant understand how them being latebreds can make such a vast difference to their feather quality and temperement ,they were the same way bred as my last youngsters and had the same feed and supplements but just didnt seem to be the same,my latebreds should have been in my friends loft sooner rather than later but circumstances prevented this happening, how the remaining latebreds come on in my friends loft remains to be seen kev :-/ something has went wrong there kev , for one reason or another, but youll usually find if theyve not had a perfect start in life, their never really going to come to anything [whether their latebreds or not] but good luck to you anyway and maybe better luck next time :) it maybe sounds a bit harsh but im afraid its true [ive had it myself :)
