Guest CS Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 How many times per day do you feed during the off/moulting season, training & racing? And if you feed once per day do you let your birds out twice?
pigeonscout Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 I feed twice per day 25% after morning fly round loft and then back to 75% from training toss in afternoon. Young birds I feed 25% when I take them of the dark then 1 hour later let them out to fly. In the afternoon I let them out to fly again to take the steam out of them and then take them on a training toss. They race home to the 75% afternoon feed and that is 1 hour 30 min's before I put them back on dark.
Guest Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Hi Craig, I find it very easy to feed once a day in the 'off' season, but much more difficult after they have been paired up and start sitting on eggs. Although most of mine have been sitting for just over a week now and I'm still feeding once a day around 1200, the cocks and hens are looking to get fed now at different times; The hens are looking to be fed away from their boxes not long after the cock has taken over sitting; 1200 seems to suit them fine, but the cocks are also looking to eat (again) after the hen has again taken over sitting, around 4/5pm, with dusk around 6pm. So looks like I need to go onto twice a day ... that's what the birds appear to want.
