Guest Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 c if you seen the cock bird do the bussiness i would just leave them alone as the pigeons know better than we do

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 c if you seen the cock bird do the bussiness i would just leave them alone as the pigeons know better than we do this does not guarantee two fertile eggs sammy just because you see the cock treading the hen
chickadee Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 My fantail cock treads the female a lot and nothing has come of it. Does that mean I have an infertile cock?

Chatrace Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Cup a flashlight in one hand and lay egg on lens, it should let the vains show and you don't have as much of a problem rolling the egg and breaking the yoke away from the shell. Try and lay them back in the nest with the pointed end of the eggs each in opposite direction so one stays male and the other female.

Chatrace Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 It is easy to try, take and put them both the same way and most likely the Obs will turn them because they know to keep the looking different, but you will find yearlings that don't know yet and you will end up with 2 hens or 2 cocks in the same nest. It also matter which way they look in relationship to which way the will be raced from. We here race from the West so we have the eggs laying north and south to get the best results from both eggs. If you want them to home better have the larger rounded end in the direction they will be coming from and the pointed end in the direction of the line of flight.

Chatrace Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 We have people here at a big University who have been doing studies with grants from the Government for over 14 years . There findings will be published in a book soon from what I understand. One of the people working on the Project that flies with us and has passed some of the finding to club members. We have one flyer who has all hen or all cocks each round,he just can't figure which way to turn thrn so the always come out what he wants. They also have some amazing writing on the reading of the hatched eggs shells as to weather the bird wil be a sprinter or distance bird.
