Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 do you think pigeons follow motorways part of the time when raceing or training NAW
Guest Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 I think your question may stem from the misquote of research carried out by an English Uni a year or two back, which Media put out as 'pigeons follow roads & motorways home'. My first thought on reading it was what roads & motorways cross the English Channel? Roads & motorways in the main follow natural contours of the land, they run thro valleys and skirt lakes etc ; I think that it is the natural contours that the birds may follow (in certain circumstances) not what's been built there.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 WELL THE CORNISH COMBINE BIRDS FOLLOW THE MOTOR WAY
gangster Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 ive seen birds flying parrarell to the motorways mainly the m6....
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 ive seen birds flying parrarell to the motorways mainly the m6.... DID THEY HAVE SAT NAV SO THEY KNEW WHAT MOTORWAY IT WAS, AND DO THEY FOLLOW THE CHANEL TUNNEL WHEN COMING FROM FRANCE ?
Chatrace Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Yes This goes along with the direstion of the eggs in the nest which should be sitting on a road map. There also should be photos stapled on the walls of the loft of exits along the Motorway so the birds learn which one to get off and keep coming home. I'm sure WMU will be working with the studies from over there. The Book will be written in England and sent here for transulation
Roland Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Was a part in the News a couple of years back where an Oxford - I believe - uni stated that 'Pigeons' follow the M'roads to get home... Have to live near where there aren't any, or do they just follow them and get lost!
Roland Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 And a great pair of boots for when the tarmac gets hot... hard on the feet I reckon.
