vanreets Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 No one is denying him his right to keep pigeons. We are all bound by local by-laws regarding the keeping of pigeons, poultry and other livestock, and in 99% of cases we have to seek permission. I was just stating that it seems strange for a council to grant permission for a pigeon loft to be erected in a front garden when a back garden is available, as I presume is the situation in this case. I am all for encouraging people into the hobby as many on here are aware. yep stop on i would of thought the council would not take a second look on that sort of thing
Guest Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 You have no right telling anyone what breed of birds to keep.OK he should have the loft in his backgarden his birds can still steal hers from there. She will simply have to ask for her birds back Did I say I had a right to do that, I don't think so
jack Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 if they are good homers they will not go near his loft
Guest spin cycle Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 i don't think front or back garden will make alot of difference as horsemans roam. if he is a genuine pigeon guy he'll co-operate with you so you can both fly your birds....if he is just doing it to annoy you then he'll soon loose interest and they'll probably end up in your loft. JMO and best of luck

Guest Freebird Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 At the end of the day he is a doo man so I would get to know him. If he has been at it a while then you will no doubt learn a lot from him re bird health etc. and he may well get into the racers etc. I knew someone a while back who flew horseman and they fly against other horseman keepers. They put out birds if they see another horseman in the air be it cock or hen and try to lure it into thier loft. Is there another horseman keeper in your area if not he may well just be going to breed them. Hope all goes well. Don't judge on looks, he may well be a good friend to have on your side.
Babybird Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 I went over to meet the guy this afternoon after I came home my shopping and got on well. He is getting 10 horseman tomorrow (his wife thinks only 2). He assured me that he would not be after my birds but the other horsemans round the road. He said that in the unlikely instance he did get one of mine in he would bring it over Glad I went over
