ACE LOFTS Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 hi all 9 months ago i bred a few late breds, broke them out round my house and had them flying well round the house but NEVER trained them until a few weeks ago. any way 6 months ago a mate of mine come round from brighton and pick a cock out from these late breds and asked if he could borrow it so i said yeh bring it back ones u have finished with it. so today when i had the cocks out this pigeon come folding out the sky and claping round the house i thought il keep an eye on u u could be my pool pigeon this weekend any way as they hit the loft i thought thats the pigeon i gave to my mate down in brighton which is around 70 mile away, so i rang him and he said yeh 1 did get out but he wasnt sure which 1. just goes to show how some pigeons never forget where they live he had been locked up for 6 months and sitting 2 youngens and never been trained. ;D ;D ;D

Roland Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Nice one Ace... but it never amazes me how surprised and amazed fanciers seem to be when the likes of happen. A great national flyer was the same to me when he mistakenly put a yearling untrained with the others and sent it 50 miles and it homed! I was really in stitches as I'd send a y/b that and think nothing of popping it into a 100 odd mile race that week - end. He takes his 3 miles each direction ... well actually 300 yards each direction to basket climate them, But he is a class act, and far far better flyer than I'll ever be!. I read a great article vie John Wills - when Rose was flying with him. I would be glad to copy and send to any one. Some folks have sent the birds first Toss ever to Pau when two years old!
