jordanp31 Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 I have just bin down to the loft to see if a cock is sitting on one of the squeaks. I lost the hen today and hoped the cock would carry on rearing the squeak but unfortunatly it hasnt. I have brought the squeak up in a box in the house to give it half a chance. the squeak is nearly 9 nine days old now and i need to know if their is any chance of rearing it and i need to know what to do. Is their anyone who knows anything about this... plz plz help :-/
Guest Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 soak some feed in water then feed it roughly about 50/60 maples or beans dont over do it ,good luck
mac1 Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 put it under another pair,or ask a freind in your club if they have any that will rear it
jordanp31 Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 cheers mac and sammy it was a single chic and i have another pair that have a single chic at about the same age. What is the chances that the other pair will rear this squeak if i put it underneathe them.??? also if i do put it underneathe the pair, might they abandon their own squeak...
jimmy white Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 the cock maybe will not sit tight on it at that age, but may still feed it,, see if its crops full, if not, you might have to hand feed it as sammy says, its easier than you think and will become a very tame bird indeed just seen your second post,,,yes put it under the other pair theyll be ok,,,good luck
jordanp31 Posted April 12, 2007 Author Report Posted April 12, 2007 cheers jimmy i have just checked its crop and it is really full so i might try and get the other pair to rear it, wats the chances of it working???lol
pigeonpete Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 think it would have been o.k jordan, the cock wouldnt have left it after 1 day anyway, and at 9 days old wont need much sitting!! leave him be!! will be fine and will keep the cock happy
jordanp31 Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 just checked the bird and the cock has left it. i have brought it up to the house just so that it will not die of cold. It is about 10 days old now and the feathers are just starting to come through. I need to know how to hand feed it. I know it sounds stupid but do they take it off you or do you need a syrindge to force feed it. I have tried placing small seeds in its beak and it just spits them back out... is this the right way to feed it....
