Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Do you let your old birds and young birds out together to fly, up till now i have kept them seperate but from next week onward they will be going out together as the young birds are now starting to fly and kit up
Guest Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Hi Tam, I don't do this, particularly with racing widowhood cocks. They are excercised on their own. Having said that, sometimes with racing from an allotment, other fanciers on the gardens have their youngsters out when the widowers are flying, but I don't do it as a rule!
Guest Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 i think it depends on youre systems also i would be happy to have them all out all day , but have to respect my neighbours ? if i flew natural old birds i would exercise together , ....... but i no longer do . andy 8)
jimmy white Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 i would agree, it would depend on the system you are using, it wouldnt do any harm on natural ,, but if the o,bs have any bad habits [ie landing on roofs etc ] the ybs will pick this up. so , really i would prefer to do them separately
Roland Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 But I like my birds on the roof tops Jimmy. Out all hours they will do. Bet you that you will see more and they'll tell you more when they are on the roof tops than anywhere else. Remember Billy Taylor saying to me 'You donna want your birds doing that Roland, look at them ... you won't trap them very easy come Saturday'. Saturday, staright in. If a bird wants to be in 'Home' and has striving to get there, does one really believe that when arriving it will sit around and rest! If it does that no worries, because it was way behind anyway. If it wizzed home to be there, for whatever reason, it won't hang about. JMOT's
Guest Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Usually try to put young birds out first to encourage them to go touring; OBs tend to keep them in the local area.
