Guest Vic Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Last nights midweek race was supposed to be from Hereford, but was changed to Ludlow. Vic was not informed of the change, so consequently found them home unprepared. To make matters worse, I had put my older channel birds out, and lost the good dark cock, which won the last Niort race with a good Combine position. Another good looker, that has bitten the dust. But we must take the rough with the smooth in this game.I sometimes wonder is it all worth while, Vic. :(
Mike Lycett Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 I wouldn't say he's "lost" yet Vic - just "missing". Where there's time there's hope.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 When you begin to question yourself on whether it is all worth it or not maybe it's time to pack it in

Roland Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 George Bettes had a crackinh chequer cock bird, of Gerry Wrighyt I believe. Was 2nd Club, Second Fed. Next year 1st Club and 1st Federation, and 1st Section NRCC. Lost of top 10 days later...
Guest Vic Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 OK you guys! fair comment. But in 99% of cases, when good pigeons are missing when night is looming, be it training or inland racing, I get that gut feeling, and I am nearly always right. But! this is the name of the game, and the beautiful experiences of the "ups" will always outweigh these dreadful "downs" that are lurking everytime our beloved birds are airborne. Vic.
Mike Lycett Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Would tend to agree - but hope costs nothing.
Guest Vic Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Mick! I'd like to think as you do, HOPE "springs eternal" for some, but there is no resurrrection for the unfortunate "stalwarts of the skies" on a bad day.
