There are loads of adverts for clocks in the BHW. and RP.You have picked a good time to purchase a clock as they are going very cheap now because of the introduction of the ETS,personally i would look for a STB you can pick them up for about £40-£50,or if you wanted to spend around £150 go for a T3.

01422-839688. Note Mr Hillcoat wants £150 + carraige for his T3, includes carrying case, dataprinter [if you are 1st in] OR a quick start for 2nd purchaser.,

Suppose they are expensive, they are actually out now you can use them in England as from 1st july,i think a very big % will change but perhaps not at first,Scotland have been using it for some time now perhaps one of the Scottish fanciers on here could tell us what % do they think are using it up there now.

Came into pigeons not long after ETS started in Scotland, didn't know much about it and although I was offered a loan of one of the club's clcoks, like yourself wanted my own and bought a new STB for £250... our clocksetter recommended it.

Think ETS was around £500 then, and Unikon had a two-instalment plan to encourage Scottish sales.. felt it was still way out of reach then, but if I was doing same again today, ETS is about same price now as a clock, and it would be ETS I'd be buying. Have used both systems - recommend you look at ETS 1ST 2ND AND 3RD before you consider T3/STB.

what percentage is can't say for sure but reckon at least 50% as there's whole clubs fitted now, so its fairly widespread, unikon, tipes and tauris systems are all in use here ..

Our club [25 lofts] started off with 2 ETS members in 2003?? Last year number was 7. This year we got a grant and although it will be YBs before most folk will have changed over, there's only 1 member that has elected not to use it.

ets is getting more in use each year i think its about 5-6 clubs in fife got them now, we have them for the first time in our club this year and i think that most are very happy with them, a lot less work and more accurate.

As a club secretary i think it is my juty to the other members to find out as much as i can so that when july1st comes any one who wants to use it can,i have attended many shows over the last few months looking at the differant systems and finding out as much as possible, hopefully i will have the system set up ready for my own use by then.Demonstrations have been organised in our area for this sunday and the following monday so that fanciers can have a look for themselves at what i think are the two main ones i.e. Bricon and Unikon.Forgot to say as we are a clock station for the NFC,MCC,AND CSCFC,i guess we will be getting some training from the NFC as they are suppling every clock station with a club system.

Comes complete with step-by-step guide, simply put your clock in club master, push a couple of buttons, mark the birds, print the race sheet and you're ready for the next member's clock & birds. Like most other things once you've done it a few times its fairly straightforward. -

I think it is a clocksetter's and marker's dream - both are done at the same time, both are completed at the same time, no hanging around waiting on your clock - for example my 13 racebirds were marked in 2 mins 22 seconds and I got my clock immediately after my birds went thro.

Also everything is printed on paper for you or displayed on a viewing screen, no dislexic or illegible numbers

ETS is a way forward but you gotta think does anyone in the club know how to opperate it all!!!!

i will go over to ETS in 2 years ithink  ;D

At the loft end, there is nothing to operate. You switch your base station on and  put your clock in; when the bird times itself in, you get a read-out of its time on the base station, [which you can print too] you then take your clock out and take it back to club. Leave your base running and you'll get a note of the times of birds arriving while you were away at clocks.

Have the ETS systems got retentive memory similar to the T3 whereby you can go back to the clock a get another readout at a later date, or is everything wiped after the race is finished.

Mick, think it safe to say you only get one bite at the data before its wiped for good.

Leave your loft base running while you take your ETS clock back to clock meeting where race is closed and all race birds data removed [not sure of two-day race procedure, except that there is one]. Go back to the loft with your clock and again put it in base station, will show birds timed since clock was removed, but treats these as trainers, not racers. You can keep this data up to the next race marking, when it will be deleted automatically or delete it yourself. Once deleted its gone for good.
