jordanp31 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Hi Went down to the loft today and saw one of my tumblers in a real sorry state all puffed up in the corner. It hadnt eat for a while and was a bit skinny. I isolated it and made sure it had a good drink and some food. when i looked a bit closer i noticed that its eyelids where really red and it didnt want to open them... :-/ Has anyone ever come across the same sort of thing???
jordanp31 Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 Went down to the loft this morning and found it dead on the floor... :-/ I wonder what was wrong with it??? I have had a young bird show similar symptoms and also died last year.
Wiley Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 yes let them do a inspection' on the dead bird they will soon find problem,if u had one last year could become a regular occurance
Roland Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 the best looking Grizzles I ever bred, or saw, were nest mates. They hen Black I believe and the Cock bird red.... alwas died within a couple of weeks of flying out. This was solved when I erradicated the family line. I was so upset too, as the nieghbours, and family really took to them. Me too, but the young never grew up, went poorly, and within 2/3 days had died. Samanella was touted etc. and much more, but since that line went the problem ceased.
Guest Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 had a familly of NORBERT NORMAN pigeons a number of years ago and thwey displayed red about the eye lids only thing was it was not an illness cause they could race from the first to last race i think it was just a trait that was in the familly . ;D ;D ;D ;D
Wiley Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 yes believe the old janseen family used to have a trait of red ceres but the brothers bred the trait out of the birds
Roland Posted June 10, 2007 Report Posted June 10, 2007 The 'Reddening of the cere - 'Eye Lining / Make up/ is caused by a the blood flowing / circulating and is a sign of health and good form.... if when birds displaying such are behind, two things.... you aren't doing them justice, or they just ent god enough!
