have three and they all face in different directions to suit the layout of the garden, birds still race to them no matter which way they face

Never allow any East wind breeze to flow into my loft.... drag over the top of course, but, What! Let them havean East! Never, they hate it and there really is no need for it. JMO

All of the lofts I've had have faced east. Quite like the the open 'front' catching the early morning sunshine and the closed  'back' protection against the prevailing weather.

i have 2 lofts that face east

for sprint or early races would prefer a loft facing east [with windows] early morning sun without the east wind blowing in the front,.. for distance racing would prefer an open  loft colder and facing west , for birds to come in to condition later as the season warms up :-/ [sometimes ;D]
