stantheman Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Iam sending 5 but after the last race I think numbers will be well down and fortecast is not that good for the weekend
stantheman Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 just returned from mnfc marking birdage down on last race by 2000+ so maybe now they will admit how bad the last race instead of saying it was a testing race and i bet they think hard and long about liberation this time
tony99 Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 im sending 7 hope they go up on sat cos im off on holiday on sun to turkey all the best 2 u that send
mickmcgrevy Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 not much chance of a lib Sat it looks grim, Sunday looks a little better but not a lot and yes you are right it was a bloody bad lib at last race, but hindsight is a wonderfull thing, but don't try to cover it up by saying it was a testing race. IT WAS BLOODY BAD.
stantheman Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 mick its nice to see that someone agrees with me over the last mnfc race and its not sour grapes on my part as i am only one short but in our area loads are still missing and the birdage figures back this up but i still think that they will be very wary about liberation this time out

We aired it thoroughly on the other site & plenty see things the same way as you. Have a good season Mike
stantheman Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 mike i agree with you it was aired on the other site its just that i am sick of hearing that it was a testing race when clearly it was not and sometimes it would be better for all if the facts were laid on the table. and comments from the mnfc press officer regarding long distance racing is not for the feint hearted do not help the situation as i am sure you will agree. In my eyes and many others a 250 mile race is not a long distance race and such comments as taking up knitting is insulting to the membership however i will not be commenting on the race again as whats done is done regards stan
Mike Lycett Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Stan Agreed - its probably best to move on now - but it's also fair to say that some lofts had a real tanking & they won't recover overnight.
Bad Trapper Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I agree with Stan that they tried to paper over the cracks and put as much spin on it like the current Government would do. I know a lot of flyers were really hard hit by the Falaise race, and have vowed not to send with them ever again. I spoke with a flyer who had a large team in nearly all winners with the result of birds reported in Devon, Wales and anywere else you would care to mention. He reckons it will be 2 to 3 years again before he is back up to strength. I sent 6,raced every week and fit as fiddles with plenty of experience, still waiting for 3, anyway enough said.
Diamond dave Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I've sent 4 - 3 that went to Falaise and 1 yearling that hasnt been accross the water yet but I fancy it to be my first bird back. I'm looking at xcweather.co.uk and the weather looks fine for a liberation tommorrow. This is a pilots weather station which I have always found to be spot on! It gives Alencon as sunshine and showers, the channel looks good too and England is fine all the way up the country - this between the hours of 7am and 4.00pmso I dont see why they should be held over. Good luck to all the PB members who are sending over the weekend. D.D.
Mike Lycett Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Hi Dave Radar rainfall images for Sat would indicate lots of wet stuff tomorrow - but we'll see.. !! xcweather is dynamite for wind analysis -
Guest shadow Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 bad weather and thunderstorms forecast all the way up to the midlands sunday is better but still showers
tony99 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 i go sunday at 5,30 so u never no if thay get up in morn
Guest CS Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Good luck everyone who entered to this race...
johnny11 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 This is my first season flying with the MNFC. They were not the only ones to liberate on that day and not the only ones to experience a bad race. If so many had bad races how can the MNFC be blamed for liberating the birds when so many others did Are they all wrong or was it bad luck. We went from Portsmouth and had a disaster yet went from Picauville same day and had a good one. Ive heared reports of bad weather , poor decisions etc but how can one organisation get a great race, hard but good, and another get a bad one.

Have to agree we went with BICC and it was certainly a tough race we had 2 on the day but ended with 60% returns. For me I don't see that as bad. Tough would be how I'd describe it. If you don't want to take the risk don't send. The convoyers have tough decisions to make and will get a tough one sometimes. Have you never took your own birds down the road and thought, my god I've got it wrong
