rockinrick Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 hi all i am at morpeth again this week and was wondering about wat birds to send as i wanna retire the 2 birds that i sent last time ,so my question is , would u send 2 birds that had done 150ml or re send the same birds that had flown it before ???????????????????? or not send atal lol :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ 8)
Wiley Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 When did the birds last fly the 350mls that went previously? What are your plans for there next race? When i have birds in distance mind, there first race is 100 miles, then 200, then about 380, then either into 500 or 600 miles. the ones that done 150 mls if fit and healthy should easily do the 350mls, especially because you have the old english distance blood, id want to be pushing my birds to the distances There made for! But then again all across the country latly has been funny racing!
rockinrick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 yea i wanna keep the 2 that have done the 350 ml and put them at creif which is 550ml to my loft , the 150ml birds have been in every race apart from last morpeth 2 weeks ago , i am looking at keeping some back for across water next season
rockinrick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 Is that Crieff in Perthshire yes it is in perthshire , why u ask ? lol
Bluedoo Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 A distance of 550 mls from Crieff puts your loft somewhere in the north of France.
rockinrick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 A distance of 550 mls from Crieff puts your loft somewhere in the north of France. lmao jus re checked and i was wrong lol its 500ml :D (i thought i felt bit wet when i got out bed )
Bluedoo Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Shouldn't have your loft pinpointed with a 6" nail. ;D
Guest shadow Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 no good them sitting on a perch you have to send them and let them prove themselves, but if they do not feel right keep them at home pay your money and take a chance
Guest anthony Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 It all depents on thier last race,if they came early you better keep them at that distance,if they made it late and they came in a good condition then you push them to a longer distance
Roland Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I'd send them all.... if it is a case of none are healthy or fit enough, then you would say NONE... if on the other hand, all seem good enough, then it' be a good little wing opener for them.
rockinrick Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 so the majority oppinion is send them to race ? lol
Roland Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Let's face it 350 miles is in reality hardly more than a 'Sprint Race' and a blow home in a favourable wind. then upto 550 miles is a decent middle distance.... after this then the true racing / feats / endurances / tests, the birds of metal, tested and proved, the ones to build a formidable team at ANY distance on, and of course this includes the sprints.... just system alterations.
Guest Vic Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Roland. How many races have you ever won over 550 (middle distance) miles?
jimmy white Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 congrats rick on your other result as for the decision now,,,well i would go with your own instincts
rockinrick Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Posted June 22, 2007 ok , sent 2 birds that have both done 220ml so the extra 100ml should wake them up lol ,so all depends on weather now :-/ :)
