PIGEON_MAN Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 HI GARY,I BELIEVE THAT YEARS AGO A STRAIN OF RACING PIGEONS THAT HAD THE FEATHERED LEGS AND FEET WERE THE WEGGE,S AND THE GITS,WOULDN,T THINK THERE ARE ANY OF THEM ABOUT NOW BUT I SUPPOSE THAT YOURS COULD BE SOME SOUGHT OF THROUGH BACK TO THEM.WHAT STRAIN OF BIRD HAVE YOU GOT.
Guest Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Mobster, I have a few feathery footed pigeons, which originate from a busheart hen that use to win over the water in our club about ten years ago, I dont know were she was from, but every one of mine that has feathery feet have done well over the water.
westburylofts Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 If you look at the pictue of the red cock bird on the left you will see he has feathered feet, he is a Janssen from the Pickering line's all his yb's have feathered legs, but not all have the amount he has. Think you get the odd throw back every now and then. RAY

Guest Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Heard yesterday from my Beginner that he has just weaned to Janssen pigeons with feathered feet.
THE FIFER Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 YES ITS QUITE COMMAN THOSE DAYS LIKE THE COCKATOO ON THE HEAD
Larry Lucas Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 The Smerle of Liege was a pigeon used in developing the modern racing pigeon. A fast very short distance pigeon. This bird was based, as I recall, on the owl pigeon or turbit. That is the genetic origin of the feathered feet hatching in your lofts, in my opinion.
