Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Are pigeons color blind? Are dogs color blind?
Wiley Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Most birds are not coloured blind, specially the species where males and females feathering differs as the bright and vibrant colours of the male are there to attract there mates. Birds can also see UV lights and have four different sensitivity cone cells compared to a human which only has 3 cone cells

DOVEScot Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Don't know how many fields of colour they can see but they can recognise different colours I was at a bird show which included trained pigeons, they had them trained to associate different colours to different tasks, one being at the end of their free flying display he displayed a colour and they all returned to their loft, they said that this colour they associated with being fed Sad but true :-/
