The moviation of the man is more important

Eric Limbourg says "the moviation of the man is more important than the moviation of the pigeon''

Do you agree or disagree I agree in some respects as the top people in pigeon racing are extremely moviated and don't give up. Some people have bags of moviaition when they are winning but when times are lean giv eup and start cutting corners like not taking the birds training hard enough.

Take myself for instance I've been out of fettle this week and feeling at deaths door had to ring in work for a days holiday yesterday as don't like going on the sick but felt like hell. Didn't take the pigeons training until 12.00 I was that ill and then threw up when I got back.

Then because I wanted to get to bed early to try and put meself right for work I let the pigeons out too early and they wanted to land didn't realise that I was letting them out too soon after coming back from their toss when they were used to training in the morning at 5.30am and then resting all day until 6.00pm.

Normally let them out before going away to the race aas well but haven't managed to do that this morning.

So have jeodisped my chances of winning due to the lack of my moviation. Have noticed through when they come well for you at the weekend it gees you up for next week and you put tons of graft in.

Going to sort myself out this weekend and start monday afresh.

But is just shows you how important moviation is from the fanciers side the bird can only do so much

Yes, i agree. If the man is not motivated to work around the lofts and birds, he's going to win nothing unless he flukes it! The best fliers, are the hardest workers. Many a time i have been up at stupid o'clock, basketed the birds in the dark, took the birds away training, got them back, fed them up, locked up, home, breakfast, washed and changed and been on my way to work, driving past the houses of some of my rivals, who's curtains were still drawn, they weren't even out of bed. Come the weekend, particularly if i was fortunate enough to win, the same fanciers have made sarcastic comments saying i was flying out of a chemists shop!!!

So i agree the mans motivation has to be there first and foremost!

For what its worth Paolo, you are/have been poorly. The fact that you still went to the garden to see to the birds shows your motivation. You have changed your routine a little, but yor motivation was still there! Don't beat yourself up over it, but DO KEEP THAT ATTITUDE OF I MUST DO BETTER! If you can keep that attitude, that hunger when you reach the top, you will stay there. The second you start to think, i've cracked it, and you needn't do this as much or that as much, you are on the slippery slope to being an also ran! I know mate, i've done it!

Here's one to cause a discussion then, is it the pigeons or the man??? I think you could pick a top fancier ( Peter Hagland/kevin Lawson/Chris Gordon ) and give them the pick of the town hall pigeons, and within a year they would be winning just as before. On the other hand, give control of their loft and birds to a clampit    ( we all know one ) and they wouldn't win a thing...............bet that opens a can of worms!

Cheers Davey, looks like we won't get a race this weekend becuase of weather so going to put myself right then hit the road next week with all guns blazing.

To be fair the birds are right just I cocked up with letting them out too soon yeasterday lesson to be learned for the future this mornings rest will have put them right.

Spot on,could not agree more.People go out buying expensive birds in desperation at the poor results, they would be far better just looking at their management systems. The top fanciers can win with anything, it's the fancier not the birds that gets the results.

I agree got alot to do with there systems, but i bet these people in the past all have paid out what there pocket can afford the best birds avaliable to them, having good pigeons has also alot to do with winning. But the percentage of the system and fancier has increased especially in the sprint and middle distance racing, i think the system has a higher percentage towards the system and fancier and less pecentage towards the pigeon in the sprint middle distance maybe 65% system and fancier to 35% Pigeon. However in long distance think thats a different can of worms, has alot more to do with the pigeon then the fancier and his systems, id say along the lins of 75% pigeon to 25% system and fancier. These long and extreme distances need good pigeons, they can be held over at the race point for example lerwick for upto and systems over then a week, the fancier has had no interaction with the bird, but that bird has had that love of home after being held over for such long periods, then to travel 600 miles, pigeons with big hearts and strong minds win these races and further

that sums up the main difference between wanting to win, and happy to keep pigeons and fly a few races...

"the motivation of man "i would agree with as, without mans motivation , you wouldn't get pigeons motivated ,i,e , you only get out of the sport  in what you put in ,, the old argument ,,man or pigeon, we've had lots of times with varying  answers  :) personally i would say it was more man than pigeon  :) in the sense i believe there are many good pigeons around the country ,but without the proper management , would be unable to produce results  :) my opinion only :)
