me Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 amazing indeed any birds were timed at all, if that is all the birds that are home 11 on result, would call it a very bad race, well it says that on the result as well, just hope more make it home. Will the birds below 400 not be scrubbed off the result Tammy?? Should say also the birds who stuck at it just reinforce what I have alwas believed some doos will keep coming no matter what some nutters put them through hats off to them!!

Fair Play Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 It must have been one of the worst days for rain this year the whole of country was washed out so bad my dog had one look and went back to bed - wise dog, pity we can't say the same for the powers to be. Rather have no race than no doos.

Rather have no race than no doos. Where you race from Fair Play? Pentland fed liberated at 11 20am today from Ridsdale 76miles. I got 8 together at 12 52 vel 1442. Most were a bit damp but they worked there way in. Eventually got 56/68. The rest will get in tomorrow when the rain clears.
xtccock Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 how the hell has pigeon racing survived up to today the technology didnt exist years ago . O.K YOU SAY THEY ARE ONLY BABIES, yet mature enough to breed? you probably has a car to train them 3 times a week say 20 mile plus , so how the hell did they do in years gone bye when they trained pigeons by bicicle 5 mile 10 mile . who cut the strings ???????????????????/ was watching a lib today when mobile aftrer mobile was going off .
xtccock Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 and do you know whats worst the telephone ringing to hear someone say ive got a pigeon of yours 100 mile away n you only lost it round the loft the buggers know how to fly.

You forget we are talking about a race into the north of Scotland Andy and you should never forget that a wee race fae 70 miles up the east coast tram lines as far as Edinburgh is not the same as asking young birds to fly more than twice that distance and cross the forth and the tay as well. "Said it before" if you are looking for doos to fly into your part of the country try and get them from that area if at all possible. Successful doos from more "benign" parts of Scotland sometimes fail hopelessly when asked to fly a tougher route! Should have said even allowing for the geographical advantage your returns were still excellent considering the weather great flying Andy!

Why? Cos Kelso is aboot your distance so dinnae get me started dingal..

jimmy white Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 And would bet, always used common sense with the weather. yip, thats true pego ,, the station master at each wee station had to fill the label on the returning basket,,,, i,e lib 1,30 weather fine, or weather cloudy etc,,but on the label supplied by b,r was" do not lib if raining or mist" ,, which they adhered to ,,or you could phone up the station and say lib or dont lib :)
me Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 No them all just you. Fair enough Andy but thats no what you said in your previous post. Was it? Slag "me" if you like disnae bother "me" but as you and "me" both know 76 miles up the east coast tae "Auld Reekie" is nae a race its a training toss.
