Guest Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 it seems that no matter how u stamp ur birds these days they dont get reported, they must be either binned or ferret food.one flyer i know got 29 missing ..1 race under 90mls and not one reported to him.i spose they dont get reported these days because of the fanciers who take the pizz out of genuine fanciers, who send for or fetch their birds.they just give the usual excuse....paul
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I sometimes wonder wether or not some fanciers realy wont them reported, some of the people you speak to when you do report them and the crap they come out with makes you wonder wether it.s worth it.Personally I allways try and get mine back one way or another infact i,ve travelled 100,s of miles to pick them up,and at £30 a time with Amtrax it probably works out cheaper.
paddymac Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Sorry Rose for response to ben on this thread, but like you said its people like him that get us decent fanciers a bad name with the general public. :-/
Guest ben Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Hi ROSE, Why have you censered SOME of the posts, they may have been not what some people may not like to here, but nothe less,in a free state, with what should be free speech, you should let everyone read the oringinal comments, and let everone have their own opinion, otherwise there is no point in having a forum?

Back garden fancier Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 I've only had one pigeon reported in the past 2 years, and that was squashed on a road! Equally I've only had 1 stray in this time that had to be reported because it wouldn't leave under it's own steam. As has been posted before I think fanciers don't report because they know what the answer most of the time will be. " do you want it?" and "I can't afford to send for it"
Guest bristolkev Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 this year i`ve lost 17 out of 36,,,,,10 of them was 4 month`s ago first time out of loft (spooked) up and gone, none reported all wing stamped and name address rings.they remaining 7 were lost on trainning from 10 to 25 miles away and none of these have been reported.same again all wing stamped and all with name address rings.if i`ve gone to the trouble of wing stamping and address rings surely this would mean i want them back.i`ve had 5 youngbird stray`s in so far 4 of these had address rings rung the owners they all had them back.the other stray i reported to the redding`s and the owner said he was moving house and could not take the bird`s with him so could i keep him.this bird was raced with no wing stamp or address ring.make`s you wonder if thats the sort of fancier who dose`nt want his bird back no matter what.
jimmy white Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Sorry Rose for response to ben on this thread, but like you said its people like him that get us decent fanciers a bad name with the general public. :-/ can understand your sentiments paddymac can also understand young ben ,, hes only a young lad,,, but really ben, matey , you must be careful what you post, if you think carefully , can you really blame rose,, shes just doing her best for the forum and other fanciers , i know your not a bad lad, just think of the fanciers that have went to a lot of trouble either to get birds back or to collect their own ,, its not really fair on them ,is it never mind its water under the bridge and we all live and learn ,
thunderboult Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 if i get a stray in(and i get a lot in) i'll phone the owner or their club sec to get their number i'll look after their bird if i can i'll try and put it on the transporter to get it a bit closer to home(at owner's request) as this is what i'd want if i got 1 of mine in somebody's loft ,they're only babies after all if they get split from their group of pigeons they'll fly with anything for safty
blackjack Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Ben i would be very careful when winding up Mrs W one day she will blow and heaven help who causes it.
Guest Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 can understand your sentiments paddymac can also understand young ben ,, hes only a young lad,,, but really ben, matey , you must be careful what you post, if you think carefully , can you really blame rose,, shes just doing her best for the forum and other fanciers , i know your not a bad lad, just think of the fanciers that have went to a lot of trouble either to get birds back or to collect their own ,, its not really fair on them ,is it never mind its water under the bridge and we all live and learn , i think he didnt need to post wot he did and it only sparked off bad feelings which was not called for, young or old though...he should respect another fanciers posts and not comment in the manner he did.we are all here to chat about pigeons and not argue in the manner that esculated from bens reply,im appologise to webmaster for my part in the dissagreement in this matter and as anyone who knows me would know,i can handle anything that gets thrown at me ,so as ive said i apollogise to anyone that my posts lastnight might have found offensive in anyway.....paul
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 If anyone should be apollogising Paul it should be Ben,there was no need at all for the disgusting way he spoke about the Welsh people or the way he spoke about fanciers and strays, how about it Ben show that you can be grown up and APPOLOGISE.
Guest ben Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 If Rose would care to post all the comments posted last night, everone would understand it was just tounge -in-cheek,and actually,i thought it was very funny, but if anyone is still offended after seeing those posts in question,i opoligise now,but still feel censership on this forum seems a HIT and MISS affair, andthere was no bad langauge or ill feeling meant,so what was the problem. This happened several months ago, when some of my posts were taken out,for no reason i could understand...WHAT`S right FOR 1 should be RIGHT for ALL,.... I certainly object strongly about so so many thinly veiled posts on the forum, which are nothing short of adverts to bum up certain fanciers,or their birds s,and no action is taken,it`s very wrong,These translucent actions should have been stopped as soon as the gereral trend started.,and these posts should be in the SELLING section, where they certainly belong. Another unbelivable section on here,Health Forum, leaves much to be desired.and it`s shocking young Richard allows posts which ceetainly can cause suffering to our beloved pigeons, just take a look at old posts, outragous medication which must be seen to be condoned by modulators who do not censore them. I have copied this post, and if a modulator stopps it being shown,it could be seen as a very seriousmatter, because however stops this post, shows they only have worries for the Forum...NOT THE BIRDS WELFARE.
Guest ben Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 WEll we are all waiting to see who censors the above post>>.as soon as it is taken off,i would like to think someone with our Pigeons welfare in mind sends a email to the RPRA,to make sure this forum has not ALL READY brought pigeon racinginto disrepute...lets hope noone then sends emails to defra, animal rights activists, rspca.rspb, and others who are ready to tear this sport to pieces. Good Afternoon
Guest ben Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Seems funny does it not, modulators ready to hit the button deleting as they see fit,bit different when this action could be used against them, bigtime.
Guest Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Are you quite finished? Yes? Good. Now pick up the dummy.
jimmy white Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 through reporting birds have made some great, life long freindships ,and some new ones ,,cant be bad can it
