GREENGRASS Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Yes Carl hope to have a go myself also organising a syndicate with some of the lads at work just for an interest for them.
carl Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 Thats a good idea getting the lads at work intrested in the sport. How many birds you going to enter
swilcox Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Dont forget the DUTCH OPEN lads!!! Could be a great day for someone in Amsterdam against the best in Europe.

schyphos Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Hi Carl, I am entering two birds from my loft, but they will be representing two syndicates from work.It cost £100 per bird to enter and we have 10 people @ £10 each for each bird.A cheap way to have some fun, make non flyers aware of how much fun our sport can be,while also educating them about the racing pigeon being so different from the ferals, and also giving them a chance to win some dough.
superstar Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Already sent an entry in for my friend, son and myself and have been ask by my club secretary if I would breed a bird for a club syndicate they are doing. We did enter the first year but had no luck and missed out as it was all booked up last year before we got round to it, so if your having a go then dont delay is my advice! As for the management, they have my admiration as it cant be an easy job and having bought several birds from the end sales the last 2 years Imust say the birds I have bought have been in excelent condition and a real credit to Jeremy and the team.
carl Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 Thanks for the replys people,so do they just let the youngsters fly to the perch or are they allowed to nest etc, just wondering
Wiley Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 maybe jeremy can lend some light on the subject??
GREENGRASS Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 I am not 100% sure of this carl but i think it is flown to the perch but if you pm jeremy he will tell you as he is the loft manager for the race and is very helpful.
carl Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 Thanks hopefully he will come across the thread and give us some infomation
carl Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 i may eneter in years to come Westy get snowy to dip into the bank account,or why not try and get your school to have a syndicate or even 10 of your freinds at 10 pound each.
Mike Lycett Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 We entered one in 2006 for Walsall Wood School & it won 1st Schools in Hot Spot Race 3 - 19th Open overall I think- but he had about 5 top 25 places. Breeding one this year for Charlotte - unconfirmed about a school pigeon at present
carl Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 I have just had an idea why dont we have a pigeonbasics syndicate for the rpra one loft race, anyone wanting to join in can put 10 pound, once we get 10 people thats one entry,if we get 20 people 2 entrys and so on.I will put the first 10 pound towards this. As for whos birds to send we can put all names in a hat and draw out who breads the birds to go.I would be willing to sort this out if the webmaster didnt want to. any money won could go to a charity of our choice just a thought
Diamond dave Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 I entered a bird year bfore last. As a syndicate from the lads down the pub and they absolutely LOVED it. Like Sycphos says it gives a lot of pleasure and information to a lot of non fanciers. - I gave them all a copy of the birds pedigree along with copies of the rules etc. and it was as though they owned a race horse!!! I didnt enter last year cos of the AI threat but shall enter 2 this time round. Sadly my bird went awol before the last race but was in the first twenty for one of the hotspot races. If Jeremy or anyone from his team is looking in, I would like to ask a question about the moulting of the birds. Cos by the time of the last race they must be "falling apart"??????? I ask this question knowing that other one loft races put there birds on darkness, whereas the R.P.R.A. race doesnt. The question to Jeremy or anyone else who would be kind enough to reply, is what would be the best time to breed a youngster to be sure of it being in the best feather for the final race? D.D.
gaz g oddfellows.com Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 that sound good carl did not no you where thinking about this race bro you should give it ago se what it brings mate
carl Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 I have spoke to the webmaster and he is willing to look after the money side of things and help with the organising, all we need is to get some syndicate members and sort out how we would decide who breeds the birds. Come on people whos intrested and any ideas welcome
Jeremy Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Hi All To answer the question do they fly to the perch well yes they do if any happen to lay any eggs they are dissposed of 3 days before basketing of the final race. The moult well we dont darken the birds as to stop the bugs going through them to much they get plenty of fresh air all the time. They also have plenty of road work which holds the moult. This year for the final race they were just starting to go so for 2007 we have brought the entry date of the birds to come in 3 weeks earlier than 2006 start date 24th of Feb which they will be naturally on the dark with this they will be in fine feather at the final race. My advice get them in early they have an older head and will be in good feather. Dont hesitate to ask me more questions. Jeremy.
