Guest waynemorris Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 well i have heard a lot of mutterings as well me being one of them.. LETS GO NORTH
thunderboult Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 i've decided to turn south as it gives more options on the longer races
Guest Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 i've decided to turn south as it gives more options on the longer races hiya m8 u mean join the south road or is there any paper work going round from welsh north road fed?
nigel holloway Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 surely the farest route for us in wales has been the east route, the nationals are evenly spread out with the winners from different sections, turning north would be a backward step, south ok but with the easterly winds the nationals would be dominated by the east section. i know the bird flu has been difficult but its not going to go away.my preferencewould be to stay put until they sort out with defra to treat pigeons seperate from chickens.
Roland Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 i've decided to turn south as it gives more options on the longer races And easier flying and soon to be less competetion lol > : ;D ;D ;D lol, just joking ... or am I lol
thunderboult Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 i currently live in west wales(far west section on the south east route)i'm turning south not for the flying in wales but to fly in the english organisations we've only been going since 2004 but we've already joined the bbc(100% returns this year in every race apart from palamos 1 from 2) in the next couple of years we plan to join the bicc+nfc and in time race in the internationals , easier or less compitetion....i don't think so, were you flying to roland ?
thunderboult Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 hi inv.spirit don't worry m8 i'm not in the wnr i ment turning my team south i've had a try this year and enjoyed it , i've been flying in the south west wales+west wales fed on the east route but i'm hooked on the barcelona race and want to build a team on the south to have a go in the future
Guest waynemorris Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I would like to turn back North. Until someone actually takes on DEFRA over the Bird Flu with legal action and wins it will be a case of are we going to have a full season or not and south or south east doesnt make any difference. With regards to the south east route i felt at the start it showed a lot of promise and it is definately fairer flying in to wales but i feel the channel racing hasnt developed like i thought i would and the last 2 years has definately gone backwards with the changing of race points. I will give all the overfly just in the knowledge that i will be getting a full season in and longer young bird races and a 600 mile race thrown in
Guest waynemorris Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 just read your post nigel and what are you on about east winds and the east section winning everything
Roland Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 surely the farest route for us in wales has been the east route, the nationals are evenly spread out with the winners from different sections, turning north would be a backward step, south ok but with the easterly winds the nationals would be dominated by the east section. i know the bird flu has been difficult but its not going to go away.my preferencewould be to stay put until they sort out with defra to treat pigeons seperate from chickens. I've posted exactly the same.... When F & M struck and we went East it was beter, and many deserving dferrent names popped up and got credit that all too often has eluded MOST great flyers. But when one looked at the BHW and saw the letters from those that had alway their cake and ate it, thought it was, and is their right! The letter were still soggy from the ears cried. And every one new that there wasn't going to be any more East route nationals ... excet in dire straits. And the so called top boys wouldn't be sending. But subject to wind, it was evanly shared out. But the section boundries would soon be altered then!!! I'd love to fy Moscow ... but it was a great route just after war years and of course it is sill flown today. Likewise equeal distance wise the West of Ireland takes all the beating. Thunderbolt, just in answer, I fly my pigeons Both north and south. Same ones go either way any week. That makes no difference to the birds. But as for South Road being an harder road... well that was just one fallacy (one of many) put forward to win over North Roaders to change and send South. Indeed it makes one laugh and wonder even today, the South Roaders in this area claim much the same silly nonsense, but the best one is that 'Most in this area fly South ... when in reality they are out numbers 5 to one! Hardest road to fly? North without a shaddow of doubt.
nigel holloway Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 yes i did get it wrong i did mean west winds, just look at the south road results all the wiiners are in the east, and their racing is no better than ours ,ask them about the midweek race they hads this week with over 50% of the birds missing,we had a very good race today from epsom with good returns.
thunderboult Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 hey roland i did'nt say the south road was harder to fly i said it gives me more options on the longer races nigel yes they did have a tough race in the week i only had 16 from 30 back but we were down on the south coast and the wind pushed the birds right down into devon+cornwall some crossed the channel some worked back around but a lot did'nt ,but the south west wales fed on the east route had a lot of birds missing that weekend also and they brought the birds back to swindon not even 100mls to most lofts ,infact reading reports from round the country the must be thousands of stray's hanging about everywhere. apart from last week's race we've had good returns flying on the south so far i've had 35/37 salisbury1(103mls) ,34/36 salisbury2 which is similar to returns i'd expect on the east route although the birds are starting off at a longer distance on the south
Guest waynemorris Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Did hear something i thought that was really stupid yesterday. the rumour i heard is that the fed want old birds to fly out as far as ramsgate and then turn north up the east coast. my personal opinion is that is just plain stupid. old birds will turn north no problem,
