Finally got round to starting new loft and aviary

Dismantled old aviary and hired a cultivator, flattened the ground and started the base today

The loft will be 5m x 2m and the aviary will be 5m x 2.5m,

Any suggestions as the project develops would be appreciated

Will post photos every day I get working on it

That's the basic outline of the base in the picture.

It's 8" x 2" doubled round the the frame, supported in the four corners and also in the middle of 5m length, so 8x2 x 2 pinned with a span of 1.6m it will be well supported

Yes I have a class1 engineers cert and know fine well about beam deflection, wait and see the base as it developes

Just positioned, pinned the joists and squared them cape and corner today

Thanks though

If the neighbours are complaining about the height, before you get too far could you not dig down 18" just a thought and i don't know what the ground is like but then you could slope it to the front of loft and it would be the same height as you told them. 8) ;):P
