jimmy white Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 not getting much luck,, how old are young
Guest Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 If you have another pair on eggs, depending on youngsters age, you may be able to foster them. Would also suggest that you may be having problems with a hawk of some kind and should keep your birds in for a few days.
Guest malonebros Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 i have been given 2 5day old y/bs and 1 2/3 day old y/b on sunday and am rearing it myself. hard work but will be worth it, im using a hot water bottle under a cardboard box with a nestbowl inside. there being fed weetabix in the morning and small seed thru a syringe onward from that. its the 1st time ive tried from this age but it seems to be working
kev01293 Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 had the same problem myself earlier this year and young, uns were only 5 days old, i fed them on babies milk through a syringe to start with and gradually started mixing canary seed in with the warm milk and then started hand feeding them maple peas that had been soaked in water with a multi vit mixed in for good measure, dont forget to check them an hour or so after feeding as they usually need water again as the grain will have absorbed most of the water in their crops, good luck and dont forget the babies milk-i swear by it kev
