noyonnorm Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I am an agent for the IcomRing here in Australia, Because they are from a plastic they are a lot lighter than the normal style life ring being used now and even with the chip fitted will be lighter than the combination of a life ring and a chip ring. Flyers have an option of a chip that can be removed or can glue there own chip in the same as the current chip ring. I am recomending the removeable option so they can be re used on another pigeon the following year. Regarding cost, the ring and chip combined work out to cheaper than what the old chip ring was. Chip rings here in Australia sell for between $2-75 - $3-25 each from the ETS agents whilst the IcomRing will be between $2-55 to $2-65 depending on the exchange rate. I believe that these rings have been offered to the RRPA. The IcomRing is being used in 4 countries and will be used in 2008 in Australia with several thousand ordered. Already more than 20000 have been ordered for the 2008 breeding season.
expat1 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Hi Wiley You think a chip can be removed from a ring without it showing it has been tampered with, You would be chucked out of the sport for doing that Plus think a bit, Ring Manufactures at the start we have to compete on Price, So the lowest tender will get the lions share of making the rings, The next year again they will have to compete for price, the one who had the lions share the first year will be able to cut costs because he is in a strong postition to do so, after a few years he will be the only one selling them, THEN' watch the price of the rings go up. No' ETS is still in its infancy in England 95% of you do not know the ins and outs of it yet, Its only been useable in England 13 days, Scotland a lot more as you know. Get to know the system first before you start thinking of another dual purpose ring. What you say is not new, the ETS bods already know how to do it but are not sure as to yet it is viable or workable Plus Give the RPRA and yourselves a chance to get used to the system remember nothing can be chaged or used unless passed by the unions and i cannot see the RPRA passing it if it was on the market until they had testesd it but they too do not know the ins and outs of the ETS yet it is new to them also Steve
Guest Vic Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Too New! Maybe? But the ones who have offeerd their support with the distributors will wish they hadnt jumped the gun so soon.
maverick Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 these new rings are designed so as the chip can be taken out and used again or re-registered to another pigeon as the ring its self will not be removable from the bird only the chip . just the same as just now only diffrance is now you take the ring of and re-register the whole ring these new rings it will only be the chip.

Fair Play Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 If people are determined to cheat they will find a way round it especially if it is electronic. Do you recall the special tv boxes that the providers used to fry sending a signal down the line dosn't happen now (so I am told) that's how far they have come.A lot of clever people out there dulicating and building to your requirements Hope it does not happen as it could be the end of pigeon racing :'( :'( :'(
Guest karl adams Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 if you can clone the chip on bank cards and phone sim cards you can clone these ring chips
