nigel holloway Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 p batesa AND SON OF NORTH WALES FIRST 8 BIRDS IN THE WELSH SOUTH EAST NATIONAL FROM LILLIERS
Guest Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 What a performance taking the first 8 in a National!!! Well done!!!
nigel holloway Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 quite a few birds home on the night but most have turned up this morning, congratulations to those who had them on the night and to the winners,BUT come on what chance did the birds have with rain at least from newbury right through the valleys down to west wales. the birds into north wales definately had a far better chance of winning than anyything down this way.not taking anything away from the winners but to have 35 out of 38 on the night into north wales . Some places had NO chance. the last 3 races with the national have been poor.just my opinion.
chichichi Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 we had 6 today,,but rained yesterday from 7am to 5pm....valleys blocked off...very poor decision to liberate,,but thats racing....well done p bates and son....

Come on there have been plenty of , and i mean plenty of races when we have had crap weather on the way up when you have had a good line of flight and the birds have still gone up. But for Bates and Son to have 5 together from 300 miles and then to take the first8 in a NATIONAL race? no matter what the weather it is great flying. and I think he sent 46
thunderboult Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 well done p bates+son fantastic result
Guest Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 great flying by phil bates, but it was always in a few minds that the north was favourite for the national in that weather and with a s/w wind...but he did it in style ...well done phil.....paul
nigel holloway Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 NO not sour grapes at all,all i stated was that the birds into south wales from cardiff down to west wales had little or no chance of a competitive race. dont take nothing away from the winners it was a great performance.not many birds made it on the day into south wales but there were a lot more home into north wales.
carl Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 still what a great result,,,,well done
