red1chq3 Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 The question is - Double grandchildren or Inbred double grandchildren, that is the question?? :)
Wiley Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 neither the champion or the son/daughter of the champion is the answer lol
Roland Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 The question is - Double grandchildren or Inbred double grandchildren, that is the question?? :) I don't understand the the query you don't understand!
red1chq3 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 What I mean is, I'm potentionaly looking advice on weather or not It would better to purchase a double G/child or a Inbred double G/child, for example of a champion racer/stock bird, purely as a direct child would be a little heavy on the pocket, regards.
thunderboult Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 for me the inbred 1 as it would contain more of the champion
red1chq3 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 Thanks for your comments Thunder, regards.
Guest stevie-b Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 a double grandchild is as good as a son or daughter
red1chq3 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 yes, but would that be an inbred one or a strait double g/child, for example a cock paired to his daughter and the ofspring then paired, or say a cock and a hen paired with the same father only
kaybee Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 If the bird is to be raced then d/g/child but if for stock the inbred d/g/child. you must remember that the closer your inbreeding goes, the more you increase the bad qualities as well as the good and very strict selection is needed when going down that road.
red1chq3 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 Kaybee- could you expand on this please, regards.
ACE LOFTS Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 well we inquired about buying a direct son/daughter off la prima vera a while ago from eijerkamp they quoted me a price of £2000 so i told them i would call back when i get the doe together, any way 6 months later i rang back to by a child off it, they told me the price had gone up to £ 4000 so i told them to stick it up were the sun dont shine, so the closes i got was a double grandson from another source still cost me a bit but not as much any way the way of what i belive to be is a double grandson/daughter is the equivelent to a son/daughter coz it is so inbred
kaybee Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 When you inbreed from a good bird for a few generations you are trying to stack up the good genes to give you a reproduction of the original good bird but at the same time any bad traits that are there are also made more prominent so any deviation from the type of bird that we are trying to create must be disposed of. Hope this helps
