today i found another cat attack on my sputnik,2 days a go i found a bird had been attacked inside the sputnik,24hrs later it died..todays bird had its head ripped clean off and blood everywhere...ive now put wire on the part that is underneath the landing board when its down.

as i was letting birds in today... a suspect came across the top of the loft towards the sputnik...yes, a big ginger moggy with pigeon killer eyes.

well summut scared him away i think the name of it was .177. slug !

now i have seen lots of slugs around the garden this year >:( >:(;)

well he ran off and hasnt come back...but i guess tomorrow he,ll be back...so ill be ready for it tomorrow ;) ;) :Xboth these birds were bred out of my tasker birds.....paul

We have 2 cats lurking round our garden - but we don't have a sputnik and doors are always closed when out at work, always out with the birds if they are out of the loft - hawks - cats and foxes abound, so birds can't be left for a moment - as thats all it takes unfortunately

next door has put a small shed next to the fence and its easy now for the cats to jumps onto my cot, theres one cat that dont ever bother my birds..strange thing that...paul

the sputnik is closed at the time of the attacks..they reach down through the frame of the sputnik..only time its open is when i got birds out...paul

Paul, surely something wrong with the sputnik design if a cat on the outside can get at a bird on the inside?

Sounds like a job for an electric fence atop the fence behind the neighbour's new shed.

i put wire over the sputnik now...the part in question is top of the front piece where the board drops down onto..theres a pole that stretches across this area on top. the cat was reaching inside to try and grab birds sat out in the sputnik, they couldnt get the bird out but doing enough to kill the birds...paul

i   have a lot of cats around me, i find the ultrasonic devises do help , but im sure the crafty ones get used to these

one here especialy, but they do help , another good tip is if your garden is fenced off [i have a 6ft interwoven fence round part of  mine] i put ,the straps the carpet layers use   [the strips of ply with the tacks sticking through] ive tacked these ,to the top of the fence , ittl not do the cat any harm , but it  will spring off the fence quicker than it sprung on it  [and wont do it a second time] also one of these high pressure hoses aimed at them , if your on target their wary a second time,,,,but really between hawks and cats , i think your better there while the birds are out :)

My dads mate had a cat and it lived with the birds. It sleep in the nest boxes with the birds .

He never had any more cats around his loft.
