REDCHEQHEN Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 We have 2 cats lurking round our garden - but we don't have a sputnik and doors are always closed when out at work, always out with the birds if they are out of the loft - hawks - cats and foxes abound, so birds can't be left for a moment - as thats all it takes unfortunately

Guest Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Paul, surely something wrong with the sputnik design if a cat on the outside can get at a bird on the inside? Sounds like a job for an electric fence atop the fence behind the neighbour's new shed.

blackjack Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 The problem is cats can worry birds to death and then birds stay out and will not trap because they do not feel safe in the loft . You need to sort this out asap.
shalis lofts Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 i went to farmers industries picked up battery fence thats runs on 6 d batterys enough to stop cats but not hurt children because i live on a council estate ran the wire around the top off the fence cost me £60 WITH WIRE BATTERYS LAST ABOUT 3TO4 MONTHS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE well worth the money just an idea mate yours in sport shalis lofts p.s all i hear now is meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww in the night ;D
tommy d Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 both my neighbours have cats,1 has 3 the other side has 1,got 2 ultrasonic devices from dazer, dont get any problems with them out the back any more.the only problem i am haveing with them at the minute is in there own back garden crying all night,1 of them is in season.
jimmy white Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 i have a lot of cats around me, i find the ultrasonic devises do help , but im sure the crafty ones get used to these one here especialy, but they do help , another good tip is if your garden is fenced off [i have a 6ft interwoven fence round part of mine] i put ,the straps the carpet layers use [the strips of ply with the tacks sticking through] ive tacked these ,to the top of the fence , ittl not do the cat any harm , but it will spring off the fence quicker than it sprung on it [and wont do it a second time] also one of these high pressure hoses aimed at them , if your on target their wary a second time,,,,but really between hawks and cats , i think your better there while the birds are out
leighton1984 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 My dads mate had a cat and it lived with the birds. It sleep in the nest boxes with the birds . He never had any more cats around his loft. Leighton
