Guest Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 To stop your drinkers freezing just get some of the board type insulation that they use in cavity walls (kingspan)and place the drinker on it, just oversize it so the birds can stand on it to drink. You will also find some of the birds sit on it as it keeps their toes warm!

Well it is getting warmer in Iceland and like i said it was only this week that the water in the drinkers froze for the first time, but in december until end of february we can expect periods where the temperature goes down to -10° celsius

DJ Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 it seemed as cold inside my loft this morning as it was outside but my drinkers were,nt frozen up my birds seem to be taking the recent cold weather in their stride but they are eating more now so i just make sure their feeders are full until about 1 hr b4 i switch the loft light out debbie
REDCHEQHEN Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 January 1982 - where I lived then (and not far from where I live now) - the temperature went down to -17 C, and the diesel froze in the buses - I hope we don't get any winters like that any more :-/
