Guest Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 FORGET ABOUT PARTIONS SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT EMAIL THERE M.PS Paul just because they havent posted on here that they have emailed there mp's . dosnt mean they havent done it, and unless we can think of some thing constructive to do, we are best off waiting and seeing what happens,...............amanda
pault Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 I AM NOT HAVING AGO AT YOU DARK CHEQUER I KNOW YOU HAVE DONE YOUR BIT I AM ASKING THE TO MEMBERS TO PUT THERE REPLYS ON HERE SO WE HAVE A LOG TO WORK WITH FOR FUTURE REFFRANCE THATS ALL I HAVE ALSO ASKED THE RPRA TO ORGANISIE A WALK TO DOWNING ST I THINK WE NEED TO KEEP UP THE PRESSURE ON OUR MPS OR IT WILL BE FORGOTEN ABOUT CHEERS PAUL
DOVEScot Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 i think point one, we wont get the publics help on just tax releif as there feeling would be they have to pay tax so why not us. if we go around it with the sport issue making the point that greyhound racing is regarded as a sport despite saying that pigeon racing is not due to the non physical demands on the human. i am sure if enough of the members of this site pull together we can have a good go at it. True, leave out the tax issue on the petitions, concentrate on the racing of pigeons being recognised as a sport the same as greyhounds etc
THE FIFER Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 they say pigeon like dog racing is not a sport because the racing is done by the birds and dogs, humans are not actually taking part in the race, that's their view on it,
chickadee Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 As i am sure you may agree Fifer if only it was as simple as that...... Getting up early spending every spare minute in the loft takes a lot of effort on the part of the fancier Yes but they don't OR WON'T see it like that will they?
Fair Play Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 They say horse racing is the sport of Kings then surely pigeon racing is the sport of Queens :)
jakjak Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Problem is with Peter Bryant is that he aint a pigeon fancier!! We need someone with pigeon racing in 'their blood' who will put up a fight........ not just sit back and collect wages!! As for the queen............
DOVEScot Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Thought greyhound racing was classed as as a sport I thought that would a strong argument that dog racing was viewed as a sport. Stronger petition possibilities. PETITIONING TO MAKE PIGEON RACING A SPORT THE SAME AS DOG RACING. PETITIONING TO MAKE PIGEON RACING A SPORT IN THE UK AS IT IS IN OTHER PLACES IN EUROPE
chickadee Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 have just sent a message to my MP. Good every little helps..
THE FIFER Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Thought greyhound racing was classed as as a sport well i could be wrong, but this is why pigeon racing is'nt classed as a sport so, dogs are the same, not like horse racing where they have a jocky on their backs,
jimmy white Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 i think it would help if all clubs in the uk called their club the,,,,,, .[place]........ sporting challenge pigeon club [ theres a lot of clubs in the uk]
Fair Play Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Maybe we should get all the people who have a monetary interest in pigeon racing into our corner, don't lets kid ourselves its a multi million £ business all those that sell equipment, corn, medicines, magazines, birds(studs)transporters they are all making £s out of our "sport" surely they can throw in their "Tuppence Worth" we deserve it after all who is paying for the RR and exotic holidays - we all help.

Tic eye Hen Posted December 3, 2007 Author Report Posted December 3, 2007 Webmaster, Where is the petition you were going to set up? I understand you to be busy. Maybe I am being Too pushy, but this is close to my heart and other fanciers. We can not put it off much longer we need to strike while the iron is hot. I have not got the skills to do this via the net - unfortunately.
Webmaster Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 How about this as wording of the petition? (I was mulling over it last night) We the undersigned petition the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and its Sports Councils; Sport England, Sportscotland, Sport Northern Ireland and Sports Council for Wales, to officially recognise pigeon racing as a sport.
Guest Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 perhaps a member with better pc skills than i (maybe webmaster) could start a thread with a petition sheet that can be printed off by each member.we could all then go out and get as many signatures as possible and then post the completed sheets to Tic eye Hen . ? Would not an E-mail petition be better http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/
homer Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Would not an E-mail petition be better http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ would be easier and more convenient for the members steph but look at all the potential (hand written) sigs we could get from friends, family and colleagues that aren't on the net or dont keep pigeons.
Webmaster Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Would not an E-mail petition be better http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ I had a look through a couple of online petitions and came to the same conclusion as homer. While looking through the regulations and whatnot found that every signatory must provide specific details - which putting on the net (even with security) isn't everyones cup of tea. Will post up the petition sheet on a separate topic.

Good idea If you want to send me a copy I will take it around some of the shows I will be going to Myself and get some signatures , Some of the Members of the young fanciers pigeon club have already agreed that we would take something like that around Blackpool show
