I would split the cock and hens inot 2 sections ...allopw the cocks to settle and take a box of their own.......when you said cock id roosting and defending his box...pen the chosen hen in one side fora week..feed her and water her in there.

If after a week it seems as though they have taken to each other....reverse the proceedure....and lock the cok in one side of his box.

If the hen as taken to the cock she will return back to the 'said' nest box to be with him

job done ;)

We are going to try this as well, sounds like a good idea :-/

Perhaps I'm completely off the mark....but your 'frowning smiley' smacks of sarcasm................is there a problem?

So much for complimenting your idea, I am just UNDECIDED whether I able to use it or not.

Yes you are completely of the mark, the "face" if you put your cursor over it  :-/ it is not a FROWN it is UNDECIDED,

Appologies in capatal letters please :K) now that is being sarcastic which is my form of witt :D :D :D

Too much room for starters... and you'll have to box something in sooner or later ... preferablely the Rampent cocks.

Theybare too dominate. Another reason why I believe it is best to let hens choose their nests before being mated  up and introduce the cock bird to her nest. JMO

Pairing up time can give problems. You have 4 established cocks and you should have introduced the new cocks to their own boxes as soon as YB racing was finished. Having said that, I did that and 2 old cocks are still claiming 2 boxes each, so its a lock-up job for the old cocks whenever they do it, and the 2 young cocks spend time locked in their boxes too..

You need to have the pairs locked up for most of the time now, only letting one pair out in each section, and when both cock & hen go back to their box, lock them in and release the next pair. Only when all pairs are returning to their own box do you start allowing more than one pair out together, and even then, keep an eye on them and make sure a cock doesn't chase after the wrong hen, or interfere with the other pair in any way.

Its a time when you need plenty patience, 10 sections, 48 hours days and eyes in the back of your head.  :)
