Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Due to the wet summer very little hay or straw or arable crops have been harvested.Consequently the prices for all animal feed and bedding is set to rise dramatically, already has in many feed shops and they are cashing in on products such as easi bed and shavings too,so it's definately worth stocking up now.You have been warned! Had to go back a good bit till I found this page , I wanted to see just how far back that you had predicted the hugh increases in just about everything and it was way back in July,, since July the prices of feed stuffs has soared and it is getting beyond the reaches of the elderly fliers who live on a pension ( and naw that's not me before you say so Chrissy ;D ;D ), but on my last visit for pigeon feed last week the size of the bags from manufacturers Countrywide, type I buy, had been decreased from 25 to 20 kilos per bag :o, unfortunately the price had not come down, it had went up, wonder just how far things will be pushed up before fliers reach a limit that they will not go beyond ? don't think that level can be far away for a lot just now

Guest shadow Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 The 20 kilo bag is an EU regulation on health and safety ground limmiting what a person can lift
Guest Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 The 20 kilo bag is an EU regulation on health and safety ground limmiting what a person can lift Was told that by my supplier year before last it was a H&S thing too, Shadow. But as it now takes more packaging to ship the same amount of grain, it did lead to increased costs.
DOVEScot Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 and who listened to what she said then ,not many Sad but true, if we all stocked up, it would be considered panic buying at the time, which would rise the prices even more :-/ The pet shop guy says if it can be crushed for oil then it will be destined for biofuels and the prices are going up every day due to China's and India's consumption:-/

ALF Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT NEARLY ALL THE FEEDING WILL BE IN 20 KGS BAGS SHORTLY
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT NEARLY ALL THE FEEDING WILL BE IN 20 KGS BAGS SHORTLY that would be great if they brought the prices down accordingly, but that won't happen, it will just keep going up and up and will ultimately force fliers out altogether, not just food , the price of everything to do with keeping pigeons is rising fast.
