Happy new year all,

I have a GB96 stock cock he did not fill one egg in 2007. I have tried various things but have now been told tablets may be the answer. Do any of the forum members have any advice on where i may get tablets or anything else that may boost his fertility.

try clipping vent, bare /lock allother in n/boxes so he can tread hen

may be its younger cocks interfering ,wheatgerm oil, flax oil ...various other fertility additives in pigeon product stockists ( leefes/boddy ridewood etc) " no not viagra"

We had a couple of our cocks both 1997 birds that hadn't filled in 2005 or 2006. Went to the vet and told them, they gave me some fertility tablets used for poultry, they are called PRO VIRON - you give 1/4 tablet per pigeon from the day you pair up until the 2nd egg is laid - result for us was both cocks filled every egg and produced winners again for us as they used to  ;D ;D ;D

As for the source of the tablets try Retford Poultry, I think they have an advert in last weeks BHW  ;) ;) ;)

We have had several OLD birds that we have been able to breed we put them in a big flypen and let them fly the pen is 16 x 24 x 8 I really think the fresh air and sunshine does lots we bred 9 pigeons off national ace Athlete after he had gone sterile for ganus, last year I bred 6 birds off of a son of Kaiser ( leo Van Rimes ) that we got from A florida fancier he was 17 at the time

why what dose it do??

Chocolate is supposed to be an aphrodisiac.  :)

You would need to ask a woman member Ben, cos its supposed to have 'an affect' on the human female.

And from that of course, comes the 'well if it works on humans' must be the same in pigeons. Only its cocks not hens that they suggest it be tried out on.  ;D

And then there's pro-viron. Reckon that's for humans too; it contains a human sex hormone. A male sex hormone. So wouldn't go trying that on the hens either.  :)

And the smartie E number isn't ingested - it goes straight thro the body, in humans anyway, that's how they get away with adding a colourant to a foodstuff, its not digested.

Ask your vet for ferty-gel. It is used on cattle to bring into season. It is expensive but you only want one vial. 0.2 ml sub cut same as for paramyxo injection. Do a fortnight before mating and see how he goes. It often works
