Guest neil Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Market at lier getting smaller every year, went over this weekend on Mike Stantons trip, half of the market was partitioned off and although there were plenty of birds available the centre of the market was sparse. I spoke to fellow member of p/basics whos father in law lives round the corner from the market and it seems its issues with licences that has effected things. Lier market was huge when we went 12 years ago,it was bustlng with local fanciers with just a few young birds on offer and bus loads of pigeon fanciers from germany, holland, france and britain and the police moving the buses on after a couple of minutes, but now only 3 police on dutiy and we were waiting without any bother. If this continues there will be no market in a few years as the little diamonds you all want to find will replaced by the farm bred birds just bought to resell on the market. I think the powere to be need to change things and get the locals back on the market rather than what is happening now
