Guest Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 We've just had two kids join our club in Family membership with their parents
Guest Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Its hard to get Young people interested, in my club there was a few Young lads showing a bit of interest, so we got the council to buy them a loft and the members supplied young birds and all the bits and bobs. They only lasted one YB season and they reallised it was too much like hard work.
westy Posted November 8, 2005 Author Report Posted November 8, 2005 that was good of the council they shoul introduce pigeon racing to youngsters to keep them off the street to stop them causeing trouble
Guest shadow Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Had several young fanciers racing last season some won cards all but one have resigned now they have found . Two legged birds without feathers.
Guest Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Young fanciers How many do yo breeding every year? We breed 40 - 60 young birds every year.
jimmy white Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 i had to smile at my young friend keith, keith has had quite a rough life, 3 brothers no father, he first knocked at my door when he was 11 years old," can i help you with your pigeons mr"well that young lad would do anything for me, clean lofts etc etc, then say," what can i do now"go to the shops etc, off course he allways got his few bob,for his work, i actually made him a partner the following year, since then ive moved away, but he allways visits me every now and again ,with his girl freind now. hes 18 or19 . his girl freind alice is very good to me too, he said to me in front of his girl freind I WOULD LIKE TO GET MARRIED ,,,, SO THAT I CAN GET A GARDEN TO KEEP PIGEONS ,well if you could have seen the look on alices face,,, hes just lucky she has a lovely nature. :)
snowy Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 well thats just the best excuse for getting married ive heard! ;D ;D ;D

T_T Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Sadly, two clubs in our town and I can't think of one youngster between us. I would say at a guess, the youngest person between each club is 40-41yrs old.
Guest jason Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 theres a 15 year old just joined our club this year ,hope he sticks at it.
Guest jason Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 i have three kids, harvey age 6 , grace aged 4 and max (ray) aged 8 months and they all show interest in my birds problem is they're a bit young yet. <max (ray) super-hero !
westy Posted February 13, 2006 Author Report Posted February 13, 2006 in the club i have just joined there has been 3 young fanciers join and one is me there was already one in the club.
carl Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Our club is a strong club but i must say there no youngsters.i would say the youngest is 25
westy Posted February 13, 2006 Author Report Posted February 13, 2006 i am hoping to get my youngest sister in to the sport who is 5 she is very interested.
MsPigeon Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Four in our club, two are 13, one is 11, and one is about 8. the important thing is that they have their parents involvement, or they won't be able to stick with it. Thre of these Jr members have a parent or grandparent in the club the other just has a very supportive father that brings him to all the meetings etc.
Guest Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Carol, Before I sign a Junior on to The Help a Beginner, I speak with the parents first, I find it is pointless allocating a Mentor to a Junior and supplying him/her with good quality pigeons if the are not backed up 100% at home, in fact I now get c Form of Parental consent signed.
peterpau Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I only know my son, he fly's in his own right sets clocks and is a great help. He's 13 and had his own birds for two years. Our local club allow greatly reduced membership, however, he is a member of NFC also MNFC and I have the pleasure of paying full fees for him.
