i am just posting a note to get a feel of how other organisations throughout the country get ther birds picked up ie  do you have your own transporters and if so do all clubs in your organisation get collected individually before the transporter leaves for the racepoint. thanks

The West Essex Fed have their own Geraldy transporter. They pick up each individual club (10 clubs)

so how long would it take to pick up the 10 clubs and what would the same driver go on then to the race point.

i hope i am not being intrusive its just i arrange the transport in my area and we to have a geraldy wagon and 40ft artic but are just looking in to better options rather than pick up 14 clubs then go to the race point .so i am just after views of how the rest of the country do it. cheers

the main transporter picks up the central clubs and the smaller outlying clubs are picked up by a smaller feeder transporter then the baskets are transfered onto whichever transporter is going to the race point.

First pick up is 19:30 the last around 22:00. The same driver picks up then goes on to the racepoint.

the problem we have in liverpool is there is 14 clubs in the amal that all need picking up and it takes from 5.15pm till 11.45 to do all collections then we have to drive 270 miles to coast .do any clubs mark together to reduce the collections.

so in both your organisations do you race mark your birds at your own club and then get picked up by a feeder wagon.

yes we mark at our own club

Our Fed work that way. Marking 6pm - 7pm at all Clubs. Each club arranges their own ferry to the transporter which is there for them to load as soon as they arrive, around 8pm. Loaded transporter sets off around 11pm.

We tried transporter on individual club pick up, it wasn't a success.

what fed our you in ib  i am just trying to get a true picture of how its done round the country ta

Scottish North West Fed. Sounds about same size as your own, 10 clubs, furthest around 25 miles from transporter, 35 minutes drive?

The trouble with the L'pool Amal pick-ups, lies entirely within the clubs themselves. Rather than half the pick up points.  Stipulate the times of each marking station and make them abide by these times. Too many clubs have not got thir birds ready , on the transporters arrival. In other words we have to alter our marking times, to accomondate the flow that we desire. Make marking commencement earlier, (30 minutes at least,) and have a heavier penalty on those clubs who abuse it.

Let's face it! 50% of pigeon fanciers are retired, with perhaps another 20% unemployed.  So let's get the 70% down earlier, to eradicate any marking problems.  ;)
