RoryTheRed Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 How To Make Money In Pigeons! 1. Research the market. 2. Consumers want latest fashion and fancy colours. 3. Buy from fashionable winning loft/s of the latest craze, make sure the name starts with ‘VAN’. Get these as cheap as possible, buy as many eggs at end of season and put under your duff racers/feeders. Do same with the colours White & Grizzle. 4. On no occasion must these pigeons be allowed their freedom, they are your future wealth. 5. Get a friendly scribe to write a winter report on your loft and your new superior bloodlines; have pictures taken of the colours. If you fail with scribe, then join all internet pigeon sites and post pictures of the colours and Van’s with family history of past winnings. Make sure you mention large cash winnings and nationally known fliers who race with your famous names. 6. Farm your product under your racers/feeders. Take pictures of babies ( colours are best ) and post them on internet sites with Headers - RACING WHITE/GRIZZLE BABIES RELATED TO 26 NATIONAL WINNERS or THE MONEYMAKERS OF RIP VAN WINKLE. Price them at £50 per bird or £90 a pair. 7. Post an ad on internet sites ( Don’t use fancy press, too expensive ) “ Due to personal reasons you are unable to race this year so all ybs must be sold” Sell in racing kits of 6 or 12, £300 for 6 or £540 for 12. 8. Aim for an average of £45 per bird. 9. In August post ads again for latebreds bred from your superior bloodlines with Headers -LAST CHANCE TO RE-STOCK YOUR LOFT FOR NEXT YEAR or NATIONAL WINNING BLOODLINES FOR ONLY £45. 10. Count your cash. Assuming you started with 12 pair of breeders, bred 6 ybs from each and farmed 6 pair of eggs to feeders with a 100% hatch rate you would of made £540 per pair at the average of £45 per bird. £540 x 12 = £6480 Nice little tax free, low risk sideline anyone can try. PS: This scam works best if you have no personal attachment to pigeons and no conscience. Yours Sincerely WANNAMAKEABUCK LOFTS.
Brian Smith Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 You forgot three very important things. One; give every bird in the loft a name including young birds. Two; stop racing them yourself when you loose one it's not a bird you loose it's pound notes.Three; retire from the sport and have a entire clearance sale this gives you time to look for the next super breed.
RoryTheRed Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 Thanks Brian for your valuable insight.

just ask me Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 very good post there think it should be a rule that every new comer to our sport read this but then again im not a mean person but i always try to find out as much as i can before i buy doesnt always work i have to say like i was out of the birds for a few year and i couldn't believe that some lofts were using the same winners to advertise there birds 8 years or so previous saw these adds in the pigeon mags just a quick hint a fancier doesnt have to be winning every week to have top birds its all about location with a lot of theses multiple winners

In fact, many of the of the "big boys," buy better positions and bigger houses on the success of it all. DONT LET THE GREEDY BASTAxxS GET YOU DOWN!
Guest Vic Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 MAY I ALSO ADD, without naming names, that there are one or two wxnkers from Liverpool thriving on IT. No small wonder the game is dead,.
RoryTheRed Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 I posted the above on pigeon chat and it was pulled inside ten mins! Just like to add: We have thousands of birds lost year after year, birds with defects and prone to disease because the stock have never been proven in races or their youngsters never tested. Too many sellers and not enough racers in the game now! I have no quibble with top lofts with results to back up their sales; its the b******s who purchase the birds just make some easy money at the expense of others.
Guest Vic Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Yes Chat is just That, They're not just scousers that are ripping everyone off, may I add. Too many back scratchers(old arses) by far, in this so called sport of ours. Is this Andy lad as handy as he thinks? TN. ;D ;D ;D :P :P

Guest Paulo Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Send me a grand and I'll breed you some Van Der Knockermesiters raced by the well known Belgium Ace Rikki Van Der Man Fandango They will win everything everyone a winner out of my golden pair. I'll quote misleading results and pretend I am the top man when noone else in belgium has even heard of me. Thing is its the buyers who lead the markets and theres maniacs out there who will pay it then put a young bird to stock that hasn't even had a race cause they have paid so much for it they would top themselves if they lost it off the back of the loft. They will then refuse to believe it is breeding crap because it cost so much and fill their entire loft with its rubbish. Then the guy next door who has raced every yb and only put good racers in the stock and then got rid of both racers and stock because they haven't performed either breeding or racing will be a champion. I'm not a big louella fan but at least he sells his cheap enough to actually race

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 You know this has been both funny and informative. As some one who is returning to the sport, thoughts of spending a lot of money in trying to acquire quality, had been on my mind. However most if not all the good pigeons i had were gifted. Guess I'll go down both roads A lot of thinking to do both on loft environment and fittings as well as where to get pigeons. Happy days Rab Smith
Guest Paulo Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Ian Stafford up our way is a top flier and wins a lot of races. There's still people who beat him through and even through he has quality pigeons he will still breed rubbish everybody does yet people pay an absoulate forture for his pigeons at sales. Fair enough proven racers and stock but people were paying 300 quid for his young birds at Blackpool. Fair enough you can't blame Ian if thats what people will pay and thats what he's getting but it makes you wonder off the mentality of some people. Even with his genepool he can't guartnee that his yb's will be any better than a £30 - £40 quid one personally I think £30 - 50 is a fair price after that people are taking the urine really it doesn;t matter what you get it off. Yet one of the lads I know through works dad flys in the same club as Staffy and holds his own against him in the old birds and he won't sell pigeons appartmentally just gives them to mates and charity sales. So the question is would you pay a ton a young un for his probably not. Wish he would give me some ;D Call me cynical but pigeon racing seems to be very much about marketing when it comes to selling birds. No doubt Jos Thones sell better than the lads fathers strain.

Merlin Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Expect you have got to read between the lines, gullibility is a strange feeling, there are many who fall for it on a regular basis, and lots of times its down to themselves, they have a few bob anxious,or even over anxious for success, they leap in head first, not only for pigeons, all these miracles potions/tonics/pills/vaccine/a multitude of crap, makes a pigeon LOOK better,it wont make it a better pigeon, newcomers coming into sport must be fuddled by the hype, there are good pigeons out there to be bought, but as a fancier, even if you acquire good pigeons, you have got to have ability to sustain these lines,if not its gone like a puff of smoke, once again you may face the pitfalls of buying, you have to serve an apprenticeship with pigeons, how long, thats down to your capabilities,to learn,we should all be capable of learning something new every day,any new starter,my advice to you ,dont pay cash for pigeons at first, get some freebies, learn about them, healthwise, all the facets of management, make your mistakes, and learn from them, you wouldnt begin to learn to drive in a porsche, learn in a mini.
