ACE LOFTS Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 no, we really took them might even put then in the club as trainers in about 3 weeks time
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 the first toss should be 1 mile right?
billy wilson Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 we train our birds three to four weeks before racing[young birds i mean] i think training them this early they will be burnt out before they start racing you have to remember thease are just babys all the world over. billy :-/ :-/ : ??)
ACE LOFTS Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 how old are they ace, when did ya breed em? i paired on the 1st december
ACE LOFTS Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 oh and by the way this is just 18 i have in a section of there own, u could call it an experiment they are out of my best "stock" the other 40 im not that worried about they will start 4 weeks b 4 racing
doo Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 I think that early bred yb's should be trained early ...but not this early well not up here in Scotland it's to cold to train old birds never mind yb's ....but early bred yb's should get trained well before yb racing starts .... I think this is why 2nd round yb's out perform 1st round yb's that have been on dark .....1st rounders get to do mostly what the want for 5 months then are worked they need work earlier ...but most fanciers are old bird minded & can't be fecked training yb's at the same time.... my opinion
Lennut Tar Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 the first toss should be 1 mile right? Not in my view !!!!!!!! I'm afraid. (Could be wrong) If your youngsters are flying freely around home etc (which they should be) 1 mile is an insult to their intelligence ;) , for what I have found & if they cannot get home from say 10 miles etc, there better of in the pot ;D ;D ;D. Enjoy
ch pied Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 oh and by the way this is just 18 i have in a section of there own, u could call it an experiment they are out of my best "stock" the other 40 im not that worried about they will start 4 weeks b 4 racing 10 ml toss at this time with y /bd's, ace mate ,the weather is not the best , standing in your back garden the spring sun is warm , granted , its way to cold at present for o/b's let alone the youngen's , you could steal the march & get the jump on other's and then again you may just sicken them , no amount of motovation will put a spark back into them , you will have the odd one that will shine , let them have the sun on their back they will thank you better fo it i haven't raced y/bs as such in some 8ys ,i pick out 10 or 12 and they get pushed on a bit , the other 20 or so are not sure if the loft is the basket or the basket is the loft up to 80ml in 10 ml stage's , when at the 80ml stage they are kep't there wright through untill the end of augest , they know every blade of grass from 80ml to the perch , this work's for me , you may have a another view ,no prob's on that one anyway good luck with the experiment
ACE LOFTS Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 i will let u no how they go at the end of the season i think they will perform really well but we will see. intresting :

Guest casbri Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 to early to train and to cold you want to wait while it gets warmer ??
Guest j v ward Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 we dont like cold winds and its same for pigeons they dont like it
Simeon Turner Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 We had our widowhood cocks in the basket yesterday for the first time (first day I would say suitable to train). Went 14 Miles with them - took them 15 minutes in a west wind :) When I let them go, they never even turned, just headed staright for home. Won't need too many more before first race the way they are looking - exercising well at home also, so why spoil things
