ChrisMaidment08 Posted June 7, 2008 Author Report Posted June 7, 2008 i have more birds than i need perhaps it may be worth reading again?
ALF Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Maybe it's to do with a lot of people being finished breeding now and all the losses we have been having with the old birds : : :
thunderboult Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 chris like me some people may be a bit cautious about giving birds away . last year i gave some late breds to a new starter(or so i thought, just turned out to be someone restarting or moved i can't remember) i gave him brother's+sister's to fed topper's and good national scoring birds, i also told him if he had a problem or did'nt want them for any reason to tell me and i'll send for them back (i would have kept them myself) he spoke to me sometime later and said he lost 2 settling em so he killed the other 2, i could'nt believe what he was telling me , i'd never give him birds again and know i only give to friends.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted June 7, 2008 Author Report Posted June 7, 2008 i gave a cannon cock to novice in its first nest bred 4th 12th fed won in fanceirs new club in write up in hw it stated fancier carrying on his winning ways from old club he had the gall to phone for a spare hen but i still help new fanciers

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Hi Guys, I may be a good example of this. Starting back after 10 years away.I was on a few months before i requested gift birds. The offers i received were great.Indeed some may remember a certain guy on from Ierland that went way over the top, this put me off to be honest.Anyway after i received offers from 5 fanciers, i came back on and thanked them, and told the site i would not be requiring any more. After getting materials for my loft ,which i built myself, found i had not enough cash to purchase any birds. My daughter bought me some 4 birds from tractorboy on this site, for my birthday which is Monday.Still got about 5/6 gift birds to collect. Hope soon i will be in a position to help other, the same way as you guys help me Thanks to all again Rab Smith

gangster Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 i think sometimes we need to trust more not all newbies request birds but due 2 the nature of most members here we will try to help everyone .....a certain muppet from stoke has left a bitter taste in a few mouths on here but lets not judge everyone the same.....
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I know alf help many a new start years ago and will do again. My old dad use to say there are two kinds of people in this world McTacks and McGess, our Irish friend was indeed a McTack yeah.
Guest peter.j Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 happy birthday for monday Rab.......pete
Guest chrisss Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 how'd u know they r a new starter , i could come on here and say i'm a new starter u would'nt know any diffrent ,it's not as if the guy lives by u, he's the other side of country, he should go down the local club and get to know those fancier's i'm sure then he'll get plenty of help. sorry mate but some club guys will not help a new starter or restart for that matter, they work on the idea that they will be flying against you so why help out,i asked for help and was offered help by a lot of guys on this site, frankly without them i could never have effectively restarted, i do not expect nor demand anything from anyone, and no one from any club in my town were exactly breaking my doors down with offers of help, there are guys on here who go above and beyond but they have been very badly burned a few months back [by who, most guys will have sussed out]right or wrong the time of the year might play a big part in offers of help
Merlin Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I am quite sure I wouldnt have a problem helping out new fanciers in any way I could, but often when anything is acquired with too much ease, its not appreciated, not in all cases,I might add,but you have got to ask yourelf in the general scheme of things,do you give because someone may ask once,"maybe" if you sit back a while, and judge their level of endevour and committment to suceed, then help them out,how many newbies, having been fitted out with the nessecities, are never heard of again, there is definitely a line to be drawn there somewhere.
carlsberg Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 i dont mind helping anyone out if i can but would prefer to help out more locally so fanciers have no amtrak costs or such as i dont mind travelling either north or south as i can usually get a training toss in
