Guest Fuddly Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Has any other fanciers had birds returned via the stray basket minus there E.T.S. ring, all birds returned to our club this week in Scotland, 6 in total all had their rings removed, this is totally un acceptable and if I find out who, I will take it all the way.ps I have decided to super glue rings on in future,so beware.
Guest milkyal Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Well ever who's took them can not use them. This is the rule 235( Should a member present a bird for allocation of rings prior to the start of old bird or young bird racing or allocation due to defect or loss and the electronic ring indicates another members loft number/details, then proof of ownership of the ring must be supplied before assigning the ring to the members bird. If proof of ownership cannot be furnished by the member then action may be taken under rules 169/70.
retired Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I dont think people take them off to use on their own birds i think they take them off out of spite and jealousy
harky Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 could be worse you could have lost the bird as well as the ets ring ,i would just be glad to get the bird returned :) :)
Guest 67ghirl Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Sorry to disillusion you but I know of at least 2 secretaries who assign ETS rings who both remove said rings from Strays and re- issue them!
carlsberg Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Sorry to disillusion you but I know of at least 2 secretaries who assign ETS rings who both remove said rings from Strays and re- issue them! then they should be banned
Guest casbri Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 you are right carlsberg they should be banned
Guest milkyal Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Sorry to disillusion you but I know of at least 2 secretaries who assign ETS rings who both remove said rings from Strays and re- issue them! Your as bad as them then for not reporting them
Guest 67ghirl Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Milkyal, How dare you judge me! I am not a member of any Pigeon Society and do not personally own any pigeons. I only know of this going on through conversation with other fanciers who do belong to Federations! It is their responsability to do any reporting! Please check your facts before slagging people off!
Guest milkyal Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 But you still can report them, you dont have to be a pigeon fancier. If you see someone steal something would you report it YES and your'e not a thief. PM me their names i will.
kirky Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I think thay are telling porkys, rings from strays will not re assign to another person the club master will only assign a ring that it has given the last ID number when it was raced last, dont think it will help to supper glue rings as thay will just cut them off, also you wont be able to reuse them yourself
retired Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I got my rings second hand with my clock and some were assigned it took seconds for the secretary to re-assign to my birds so sure it can be like that for anyone. Thinks its a crying shame and if i knew of anyone pinching rings im with you Alan i would report them and take my chances

Thinks its a crying shame and if i knew of anyone pinching rings im with you Alan i would report them and take my chances you got clock and rings that had already been used together so thay would re assign,
retired Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Ok mate my knowledge of the Ets is limited i really dont want to learn either. I know that after logging the times from training i go onto the setting that looks like a watering can and press ok to delete and thats all i know. (Thats on Bricon btw) The less i know the less i can expletive removed* it up

If you see someone steal something would you report it YES and your'e not a thief. PM me their names i will. Yes if I SAW someone do it!!!! Therein lies the problem, the only people who could prove it are the people who assign and those who present or use the re-assigned rings. So what are the chances of ever getting the evidence, you cannot go on 'hearsay' even if it has come from the horse's mouth! In the areas it is happening, which is a different part of the Country from me, it is common knowledge and widely discussed and people have made moves to try and stop it but have been unsuccessful!

jimmy white Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 could be worse you could have lost the bird as well as the ets ring ,i would just be glad to get the bird returned :) :) thats bang on harky ;D the birds more important than the ring [but it still is a nasty carry on, to do anything like this ,,,no need for it whatsoever]
billymac Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 FIVE CLUB STRAYS PICKED UP ON MONDAY, ALL HAVE HAD THEIR ETS RINGS REMOVED(STOLEN)
Guest milkyal Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Yer anr what do they cost £1 a piece, some people must be right hard up >
Guest Fuddly Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Same again this week ETS rings missing on stray returns, it amounts to theft and the person/persons should be charge,we have a number of members who are O.A.Ps and at £3.50 a stray plus the £1.20 PER RING i feel this is needing looked into by the SHU.as for getting the bird back yes i am very delighted, but i do not remove rings from stray pigeons and have gone out of my way to return strays ASAP when the arrive at my loft.New rule agreed by clock setters in our club no ring will be assigned if prove of ownership cannot be found.have asked Unikon for advice on this.
Guest IB Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I was left with my Federation's 15 strays in our club house yesterday; had it not been for the fact that I could not get the club drinkers on the fancier's basket and transferred the birds into a club basket for water, I would not have noticed that all but 1 ETS ring was missing. Took a while for the penny to drop too, cos my first thought was what has happened to the rubbers? Only when I came across one of the Secy's birds did I realise it was ETS rings that were missing, not rubbers. I left word about this on his ansaphone. Theft is theft, just £1.25, just a ring etc doesn't come into it. 'Fancier' stealing from fancier.
Fife_pigeon_wife Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Theft is theft no matter what it is they are stealing. These folk when caught should be hung, drawn and quartered. Fanciers and there families pay good hard earned cash for there pigeons , property and accesories no matter what they are.
Guest Fuddly Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Very interesting IB now we can ask further up the line did the birds have ets rings on,because somebodies doing it and i cannot imagine for one minute every person who returns a stray via their club to the rightful owner are removing them. The stray centres have to watch whats going on because innocent people could be labled with the tarry brush, and i hope that does not happen. Is it just in the one Fed this is happening? or are their others?
Guest Fuddly Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 How are the birds moved about the country,i mean from the time a stray is put in a club basket on a Friday, say in the Ripon area until it is picked up say in the North West Fed in Scotland by its rightful owner?
