jimmy white Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hi all about 2two years ago i seeing a dvd on the lighting system for young birds. has anyone ever done it or no how it works i heard it is just the same as the dark cant remember how it was done on the dvd sorry tried this method many years ago ,, found it not as good as the darkness system ,,, the lightness system is in fact the complete opposite to the darkness system,, with the darkness system you are in fact fooling the birds its winter ,i.e dark at 5pm ,,light at 9 am , these birds have a full body moult [like latebreds] but retain their nest flights ,, whereas the lighness system is early bred youngsters kept on summer daylight hours , so that they completely moult , flights as well,b4 racing starts both these systems will require the yb,s to go through a second moult ,i,e now.
Tony C Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 From what I hear we in the UK are too far up in the northern hemisphere to fly this system.
kirky Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I FLY DARKNESS BUT USE LIGHTS AT THE BACKEND WHEN NIGHTS START TO DRAW IN, BIRDS THINK ITS STILL SUMMER WHEN LIGHTS ARE ON UNTILL 9pm, IN PAST SEASONS MY BIRDS HAVE STARTED TO MOULT COVER FLIGHTS AND NOT DONE AS WELL IN LAST 3/4 RACES BUT THIS YEAR WON CARDS UP TO THE LAST RACE.
