Guest Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 I didn't want to hijack Malone Bros thread where the debate has gone on about asking questions. This is a fantastic facility for sellers, you don't have to pay for an advert if they don't sell, as can be seen with some sales recently. And if you're a prospective buyer and / or if you think there's something to be checked you can check it out to help safeguard everyone. And if you think you're above answering questions then you won't sell anyway! So I would suggest stop whinging when you're asked a question, if you don't like the tone fine say so but answer the question. The birds won't sell if you hide behind a question that you don't like the tone of. However there may be less sold than in recent months because of tightening up, I think it's a buyers market at the mo.
Guest spin cycle Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 i think you are right albear. i think that there are a lot of genuine guys selling honest birds on this site ..that may well represent good value for newbies in particular. however the scrutiny/questioning needs to be 'vigorous' in order to deter the less scrupulous who would abuse the site..and often rely on sicophants for endorsements...that would also help the genuine sellers. in a world where paper / beuraucracy seem increasingly to rule its still no no replacement for integrity.
jimmy white Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 yes i agree also albear, but also in asking any questions in their real name , as there are many "alias,s" which will spoil things for all concerned [if they simply just want to , for spoiling sake , cant for the love of me see why, but seem to have some sordid sense of humour ,knowing full well their under an "alias",, good luck in your sales albear , even a free ad ;D ;D ;D one of albears pigeons took a good position out of a snfc race , this year same goes for valance lofts,, best of luck [im sure you will agree , we could do without the spoilers ]
jimmy white Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 oh, sorry stu malone ,, meant to say , i had two beautifull pigeons from you , well worth the price i paid , best of luck stu
ChrisMaidment08 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 i think a section should be on here were unless you put youer full proper name on you should not be allowed to bid that way you wont get messed about i respect its more work for mods but that way noone will 1 bump price up 2 buy then disapear 3 unsavoriy peaple who should not have birds wont get them
OLDYELLOW Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 well i would agree that birds should be listed with a picture and pedigree and the listing should give as much information as possible, then the need for ungenuine questions to hinder the sale be unessasary and then any further questions should be done via pm , and leave the thread for bids only
jimmy white Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Quite simple really all sale threads should be locked and all queries via PM only. yip, i would go along with that it then becomes a personal sale without any undermining interference on the forum i.e, that if the fancier in selling, requests this.
Tony C Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Quite simple really all sale threads should be locked and all queries via PM only. I would agree with that as long as the seller were to put on their post their correct flying name and Fed secretary’s details so any claims could at least be substantiated.
tskyes Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Quite simple really all sale threads should be locked and all queries via PM only. WELL SAID
Guest strapper Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 well to be honest...if someone is asking questions about someones truthfullness about a sale and its wording isnt it a sad state that someone has to be in a alias to ask them?...why?..isnt that just as dishonest as to what they are trying to find out? .i believe that there should only be one name for members , and you stick to it..or change and not use another...anyone who wishes to know me just look at my name and town...theres only one named paul in my club and its me. im the sec of abergavenny kings.... id like my sales to be kept open and unlocked..ive nothing to hide, as someone using an alias, for some reason has.
Guest Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Quite simple really all sale threads should be locked and all queries via PM only. Great idea, There should be as much info on birds as poss (a set queationaire eg breed sex ,colour pedigree if there is one , then perhaps the birds achievements,) Then if any more info is needed it could be done via pm :)
grizzle_hen Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 There is an option for sellers to have their for sale posts locked, and that is up to them and I realise that there may be pros and cons to having a locked or unlocked sale posts - and this is entirely up to the seller
ChrisMaidment08 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 i agree you can say what you like in pm but on open forum you get cought out by someone who is bit more intelagent
Guest Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Too much room for lies in PM's, how do strangers and newbes know that the seller is telling the truth. What is wrong with asking honest questions seeking honest answers on a forum I got nothing to hide lenwadebob, real name Bob Nichols
DOVEScot Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 i agree you can say what you like in pm but on open forum you get cought out by someone who is bit more intelagent Aye this birds flew home from Sante, aye Sante Claus ;D ;D ;D
grizzle_hen Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 I can see both sides with having for sale posts locked or unlocked - and in this case I think that it is up to the seller (but myself and Richard will have talk about this and see where to go with it). In regards to real names, yes we all have our member names with whatever meanings (although not a pigeon person my member name does have a meaning behind it). Maybe with for sale posts, as with our locations, when posting up a bird for sale (or anything else) members could post their names and location? What do you all think about that? With location, as I have said before, could be as vague as Wales or Essex or narrow down a bit more to Newcastle.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 trouble is mate im to much maney to sell i give um away even then you get 3rd degree
ChrisMaidment08 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 if i was to sell bird for my own pocket i would have no objection to putting my name adress tel no not mobile and if you need check honesty sec.s no as well that way sorted as someone knows me thats why my name is by side
DOVEScot Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 I got nothing to hide lenwadebob, real name Bob Nichols We all know that the majority have nothing to hide but site rules allows you to join under an alias, I and many others would gladly post our personal details and have done many times on the site. Maybe your real name should be shown in your personal details or you can't post or join the site :-/

DOVEScot Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Whilst i dont disagree with what your saying Duncan in principle the for sale section seems to be a playground for some to either criticise or make a mokery of people of people trying to sell honest birds. im all for questions asked in the correct manner with no malicious intent but the minority seem to ruin it by signing up for a second membership just to stir it up for the seller **** No names mentioned!!!***** This minority ruin the integrity of the site for the rest of us. You will never get it perfect but at least out in the open is best I would say, look at the hassle A Hitchcock got from site members right or wrong I did not see many complaining :-/

I totally agree with you, and whenever we try to combat this and split posts etc to have a smoother running section without the put downs, we are the ones that then get further attacked, because we have tried to stop these posts and then if we dont stop these posts the sellers start to attack us. Can't win either way
Guest strapper Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 note name and town...not just county and country.
