oldguy Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 what is the approx average velocity for a good sprint racing bird, from release point to loft. is the speed calculated in metres per hour or miles per hour, or something totally different thanks Kev
OLDYELLOW Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 flying speed is worked out as ypm which is Yards Per Minute fly times vary dues to wind and distances
Guest Vic Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 A no wind situation about 25 years age, was deemed at the time to be in the region of 1400 ypm. With modern methods and improved transportation, this has increased to within the mid 1400's to 1470's at the most. I don't write books, but I know more than some that do. Don't let the profiteers in this waning game use you!
peterpau Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Kind of agree with that, 45 mph + or - wind speed. May be up to 300 mile then things get interesting.
Guest Vic Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 45 mph is 1320 ypm. 1400. is nearer the fifties. They are now (these days, into the fifties witout any assistance whatsoever) Vic.
