DOVEScot Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 Sad news for Billy today, his tests came back today and he has the worst form of pigeon lung, which is a fungus in his lungs making him totally alergic to pigeons and possibly all birds. any contact could kill him. So I have to get rid of all his birds from his lofts. He was really gutted gutted today when I told him the news Good thing is we have had word from the council today and he is getting a low door accomodation with wheel chair access near us as soon as one comes available, not sure if he can still stay with us for a few days when he gets out due to us having birds. A sad day for a man who loves his birds
retired Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Really sick for him Dunc, one of our local fanciers had the same last year had his own birds for 68 years and they had to go
Peckedhen Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Really sorry to hear this. :( Maybe he can join the forum when he's home and keep in touch with racing and chat/advise members on here?
DOVEScot Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 Really sorry to hear this. :( Maybe he can join the forum when he's home and keep in touch with racing and chat/advise members on here? He will have no means to access the site when he gets to his new house, he may log on here as he plans to fill in his time in my workshop, but we have to check and see how the saw dust and the paint fumes will effect him for by the birds, some of our birds are so tame they come into the workshop and steal cable ties for their nests, even the nail gun does not flinch some of them We plan to get him one of these electric scooters, seen this one on ebay but unfortunately it is in Cornwall :'( :'( :'( I could play on that myself http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150245835386&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005

DOVEScot Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Posted May 27, 2008 Sad day for Billy, the last of his birds have found new homes and his lofts are now closed, I will be taking them down as soon as I can so we can get ready to move house when he gets one. Apart from feeling down about his birds he is doing fine considering. Someone told me about racing from a rabbit hutch style loft, any pics and ideas would be appreciated as this may be an option for him. We will know better what we can doo for him once he gets a new home and when he gets out He would like to thank all the members who rehomed his birds and hope they get as much pleasure out of them as he did, also for the well wishes received from the members on the site
