mic Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 this is a question to all clubs who use these systems,do you use a laptop or computer for running this system,if yes ,what happens when the laptop or computer decides not to work,do you have a back up,if yes does your back up have the same program for ets with ring no s loaded, any replys welcome as we have an issue with the system, thanks :X
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 i backup all our clubs data on a memory stick or you can burn it to cd , i suggest everyone makes a copy of any changes made to the database
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 if you need to put all the data onto another pc and can't access the old pc , simply install the unikon club software on the new pc and download all the data from the pocket clocks using the club system
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 you dont need your laptop only when your doing results
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 you need it to assign rings before racing starts
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 before and during racing if need be
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 not on a basketing night if everyone wanted a bird assigned on friday it would take to long .
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 we have being useing it up here for 6 years wee no all the problems
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 yes our union rules state this can not be done on day of basketing not on a basketing night if everyone wanted a bird assigned on friday it would take to long .
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 best system on the market in my eyes
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 there was problems this year and no fault of ours it was down to unikon
mic Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 thanks lads, the problem is weve been told that we cant have another, laptop running this system,in this club, with ring details,so for instance, a national race and the system goes down, you need a back up,youve got to have back up,whats the point in paying a fortune out for systems with no backup, with all relevant details on another computer you can carry on,,so do your clubs have a back up or does unikon or the unions have rules in place for such matters, the question concerned came from a unikon rep/union office
stephen steyert Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 backup's of fanciers and pigeon assigned rings is that what you are wanting?
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 doesn't matter if the computer crashes once it on your clock thats it . you don't use the computer every week
Taylorsloft Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 you would just have to reload the software and import the clocks that would do the trick

Guest Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 best system on the market in my eyes Why? what comparisons have you made and what have been the differences? Interested to know for possible club purchase.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Why? what comparisons have you made and what have been the differences? Interested to know for possible club purchase. We have both Unikon and Bricon systems in our club and as secretary I wouldn,t say say one system was any better than the other, allthough I personally chose Bricon to use myself.
