Guest strapper Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 another member of our club has chosen to call it a day and is selling his birds. he has some very good dave stone pigeons and some logans..amongst others. the sport is trully dying a slow death and with the price of things it aint gonna get better. if anyone is interested in some new stock ,let me know . we have lost a few members this last season and recently..around 4 members. its funny how the government dont look at the sport of pigeons like they do with other animal sports and support it.
Roland Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 So sorry to hear another one leaves. Might I add that the Goverment doesn't class 'Pigeon Racing' as a sport.... Might Horse, or Dog racine etc. Used to be Fowl under the MFF. Dafra have re a signed our termoligy, but is something like Pests I'm afraid. :-/

bazza Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 sad day indeed,we had 4 resign this year alone.so its only 9 members at the mo.hopefully 1 or 2 return for young birds.
Roland Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Saddest is that there are now 7 local flyers - were very regular flyers all bar one - that have resigned from their' clubs and will just keep their pigeons for fun and love of.
pjc Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 When people give up racing due to hawk problems or club issues then why don't they take up showing, that way you still get both the pleasure from the birds and competition. Phil
Guest strapper Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 my m8 is moving to pembrokeshire, and isnt planning on having pigeons again. i think for family reasons.
Guest spin cycle Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 i think this is bad time of year. perhaps some fanciers haven't been thinking about pigeons to much since end of last season and then all of a sudden think 'blimey can i face week in /out,racing, training etc' and decide to pack in. if they keep their birds perhaps they'll get tempted back with some better weather. i think we'll all be better once we get racing again
superstar Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 We got one of your former members in our club now Paul. I believe he didnt send regularly and didnt want to pay the £5 levvy every week or something. He lives out pandy way do you know him?

Phil Yes, agreed. But I that want to see the birds out flying. No hawks problem as such, and certainly not clb issues.

I believe he didnt send regularly and didnt want to pay the £5 levvy every week or something. He lives out pandy way do you know him? i think so..is it peter?..the £5 was the cost for sending your birds...everyone in the fed did it..it wasnt a club thing....it was £5 for 20 birds then 25-30p a bird there after.
Roland Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Cheap flying I'd say. Don't know of course other fees that have to be met.
pjc Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 it does work out cheap flying if you send every week. You still have to pay wether you send or not.
Guest strapper Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Cheap flying I'd say. Don't know of course other fees that have to be met. untill they were increased by the fed it was ok ...only other fee we pay on top of that was a quid a week club funds.
