we have apair of young in nest about 2and a half  weeks old and both have fret marks on same feathers both look big and strong and droppings are good what causes this and should i dispose of them  or go by their looks thanks for any advice :-/

;)has been a previous post this one ,lots of answers on it . 2 ybs in nest generally have fret marks ,however single reared ybs dont ?  ;D                           andy.

fretmarks are caused by stress be it a missed meal or going cold , they will be fine  :)

thanks guys dont really want to bin them coz otherwise they look great but the girls have put the kiss of death on them by giving them names ;D

 

i had a pigeon i called him dusty bin due to his ring number always said hes off in bin , but these birds have a habit of earning there names after he won i lossed the bin bit ;)

breeding at this time of year with not enough daylight hours the young tend to have frets, i prefer to breed later when theres more daylight ,the young dont have to go all night without feeding maybe 12/15 hours or so unless you put lights on  till about 22:00 hrs even then it's still 9/10hrs of darkness meening no feeding for that amount of time
